The project of KBSU postgraduate students was selected for a contract with Titan Group
The project of postgraduate students of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov – Shamil Afaunov, Aslanbek Tlupov, Hasan Musov and Marina Balagova – as a finalist of the competition of projects of young scientists in the field of development of applied chemistry and technological solutions was awarded a special prize of Titan Group of Companies in the amount of 10 million rubles.
Thanks to this success, the university team headed by the scientific director Professor Svetlana Khashirova got the opportunity to implement their project «Composite materials based on polybutylene terephthalate and secondary polyethylene terephthalate» with the support of one of the largest petrochemical companies in Russia.
The winners of the competition were congratulated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC Titan Group of Companies, Chairman of the Chemical Industry Committee of Delovaya Rossiya, Vice President of the Russian Union of Chemists Mikhail Sutyaginsky.
Competitions among student research groups for the Titan Prize are an opportunity for young people focused on working with industrial enterprises to gain direct access to potential employers. It is very important for us that as many students as possible, choosing chemistry, are interested in continuous learning, while simultaneously gaining practical skills at the enterprise,

Teams from 15 universities in Russia and the CIS countries took part in the competition. The work of young chemists was assessed by members of the expert jury, consisting of representatives of the scientific community of the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Pskov State University and industrial enterprises.
The Titan Group is a systemically important company that manufactures chemical and petrochemical products, is represented in 8 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and is a leader in the production of a number of petrochemical products. This is the main customer of the comprehensive scientific and technical project of the full innovation cycle in the direction of «Petrochemical Cluster», and KBSU is one of the participants in this program.
The university takes part in the implementation of the company’s comprehensive scientific and technical project to create environmentally friendly production of basic high-tech chemical products for the automotive, construction, medical and food industries from hydrocarbon raw materials based on innovative domestic scientific developments.
