Representatives of regional teams creating design projects for educational spaces of schools included in the federal capital renovation program, together with organizers and craftsmen — leading industry experts, in a workshop (accelerator) format, finalized their projects, which should become part of the technical specifications for construction organizations — contractors in the regions.
Let us remind you that, starting from November 2023, students of the Institute of Architecture, Construction and Design of KBSU have been participating in the development of preliminary design projects for schools in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, included in the major renovation program. In total, as of 2024, it included 5 schools: GBOU “KSHI No. 1” s.p. Atazhukino, MKOU «Secondary School» Kashkhatau, Municipal Educational Institution «Secondary School» s.p. Kishpek, Municipal Educational Institution «Secondary School» s.p. Lashkuta, MKOU «Lyceum No. 2» Nalchik.
To develop projects, all students were divided into teams consisting of 5-6 people from different courses and areas of training: architects, interior designers and graphic designers. Each team was assigned a teacher-curator. The work began with getting to know the schools. During the field trips, students made clarifying measurements of all premises: recreation areas, classrooms, dining rooms, halls, dressing rooms, toilets, many of which looked depressing, and also conducted participatory research with junior and senior students, parents, teachers and school principals in order to understand how best to organize school spaces based on their wishes and preferences.
“At a meeting on the implementation of the target program for the overhaul of educational organizations, held on February 20, the day of the start of the acceleration program Workshop “Dream School” at VDNKh, the President of Russia especially noted that when carrying out overhaul of schools, the emphasis should be on creating modern school spaces, creating fundamentally new conditions affecting the development of modern students. This confirms the importance and relevance of the task that we, together with the regions, are solving within the framework of our project,” emphasized Natalya Kravchenko, ideologist and leader of the “Dream School” project, chairman of the commission on education and training of the Public Chamber of Russia. “Three days of the workshop are an opportunity for regional teams to “pump up” their projects with the participation of leading industry experts who create the best modern educational spaces in our country, to make their design projects as applicable as possible and ready for implementation.”
As part of the “Dream School” workshop, the organizers offered students and those who support them in the regions individual and group reviews of projects, discussions of the most difficult issues on the path to creating dream schools, seminars and master classes from federal experts, joint discussion and analysis of the solutions found . On the final day of the workshop, a strategic session was held dedicated to the further development of the project.
According to the feedback from the “masters,” the students were able to approach the task of creating dream school projects not only creatively, but also thoughtfully and professionally. Experts especially noted the value of relying on the results of participatory research when developing design projects. Experts highly appreciated the quality and deep, detailed design of the projects, which will undoubtedly help construction contractors create dream schools in the regions during major renovations.
The organizers of the “Dream School” project see their task for the near future as helping to organize interaction between student teams and regional authorities so that the design solutions developed by students can be used and implemented during the overhaul of schools. The project intends to develop in accordance with the tasks set by the president to modernize the education system.
