The IX International Conference on Quality Management and Information Technology continued its work at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.

Today, as part of the forum, a master class on the topic of «Lean Manufacturing at an Enterprise» and a round table discussion on standardization, quality and organization of production in electronic engineering were held.

Director of INPROTECH, head of the department of Management and Quality Systems at the St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University «LETI» Svetlana Kuzmina and assistant of the department Ksenia Machulskaya conducted a business game for KBSU students simulating the current state of the enterprise. They told how to behave when getting into a problematic situation, how to apply lean tools and optimize the process, and also suggested ways to solve the problem.

Svetlana Kuzmina, director of INPROTECH, head of department at ETU «LETI»:

In modern enterprises, where every minute and every resource is valuable, effective process management is becoming a necessity. To achieve maximum productivity, it is important to understand and eliminate various types of losses that arise during the work process. Loss is any activity that consumes resources (time, materials, money), but does not create value for the consumer. There are seven types: overproduction, waiting, unnecessary transportation, excessive processing, excess stock, defective products and unnecessary movements.

As Ksenia Machulskaya emphasized, with the correct organization and optimization of these processes, an enterprise can significantly increase its productivity, reduce costs and improve competitiveness in the market.

The International Conference on Quality Management, Transport and Information Security and Information Technology will end on September 26.
