The issue of language teaching in a multicultural world was discussed at KBSU

Diverse approaches to teaching languages ​​in the context of cultural diversity, the use of innovative technologies in the educational process and prospects for the development of language training. These topics were discussed at the regional scientific and practical conference «Teaching languages ​​in a multicultural world: traditions, innovations, prospects», held at KBSU on the initiative of the Department of English of the Social and Humanitarian Institute.

As the director of the SHI Muslim Tamazov noted at the opening of the conference, it is very important to improve your knowledge and skills, and this must be done constantly. Namely, at such platforms, there is an exchange of experience and professional ideas that contribute to the development of scientific and educational practice.

At the plenary session, reports were presented covering a wide range of topical issues in the field of language teaching. Particular emphasis was placed on the integration of modern educational methods taking into account the ethnocultural characteristics of students.

Problems of identity in the new conditions of language teaching were touched upon by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor of the English Language Department Leorena Kharaeva, emphasizing that the modern system of teaching foreign languages ​​should take into account not only the development of language skills, but also respect for the cultural characteristics of the students’ personality. In her opinion, in the conditions of a multicultural world, it is especially necessary to cultivate students’ national identity through language.

Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor of the English Language Department Svetlana Bitokova made a presentation on the topic «TedTalk Video Hosting as a Tool for Teaching English». She clearly demonstrated how video hosting can be used to develop four types of speech activity: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor of the English Language Department Zuryat Murtazova highlighted the prospects for using modern digital technologies, such as chatbots and personalized AI-based learning programs, in the process of learning English.

Candidate of Philological Sciences, Head of the English Language Department Larisa Dzasezheeva focused on one of the most pressing issues of modern society — the preservation of native languages ​​in the context of globalization and digitalization. She spoke about the problems that small languages ​​face in the era of the dominance of major world languages, and also proposed strategies for their preservation and popularization using modern technologies.

Head of the Center for Popularization of the Kabardino-Circassian Language and Culture «Adyghe tsIykIu» Asiyat Karmova raised key problems that prevent young people from fully mastering their native language, and proposed innovative approaches to solving them. In particular, in her opinion, the younger generation can be introduced to their native language through crafts and traditional arts.
