Release date: 07.05.2025

The exhibition «The Human Dimension of War» has opened at the Social and Humanitarian Institute of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition was prepared by history students and teachers of the Department of Russian History and Caucasian Studies. It consists of photographs of their relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War. Each photograph is accompanied by a story about the fate of the hero.

Senior teacher of the department Natalia Varivoda noted:

Familiarization with the military biography of each front-line soldier helps to understand that from the millions of fates of soldiers of this war, a common, one for all, Victory was formed. The importance of such exhibitions lies in the preservation of «living history», which allows the threads that connect ancestors and descendants to not be broken. This ensures the progressive development and self-preservation of our culture, forming an awareness of the unity of generations.

Looking at the portraits, visitors to the exhibition shared their thoughts on the importance of memory, historical responsibility and the role of each person in preserving the historical heritage. The students unanimously agreed that they were filled with pride for their great-grandfathers, who showed courage and fortitude during the difficult war years. These feelings largely shape their respectful attitude to the history and culture of their country.

Thus, the exhibition «The Human Dimension of War» became not only a place for displaying photographs and stories, but also a platform for deep understanding of historical events and their impact on modern society.
