The first phase of the KBSU-Rostelecom collaboration: faculty ready to implement IT innovations in the educational process
The first phase of a large-scale educational project implemented under the strategic partnership agreement between Rostelecom PJSC and the Institute of Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov has been completed. The goal of the initiative was to improve the qualifications of the faculty and modernize educational programs in line with current trends in the digital economy.
During the first phase, 21 faculty members from the institute completed training at the Rostelecom IT Academy under a special program developed to meet the needs of the modern technology industry. Participants received an in-depth study of key areas of digital transformation, including big data analytics, mobile app development on the domestic Aurora platform, distributed ledger technologies (blockchain), and integration with the BASIS corporate platform.
The acquired knowledge is already finding practical application: teachers are ready to introduce new courses into the curriculum, focused on developing the competencies of future IT specialists. The planned courses include prompt engineering (techniques for creating effective AI queries), DevOps approaches to organizing software development, low-code data processing methods, and IT project management using modern methodologies.
The program placed special emphasis not only on theoretical foundations but also on solving practical problems. The teachers developed prototypes of real-world digital solutions, allowing them not only to master new technologies but also to prepare for imparting practical skills to students. This approach will give KBSU graduates a competitive advantage in the labor market, where the ability to quickly adapt to changing technological conditions is increasingly valued.
Furthermore, the partnership provides students with the opportunity to complete internships at Rostelecom’s regional offices throughout Russia. This opens a direct path for young professionals to employment at one of the country’s leading digital companies.
The first phase of cooperation between Rostelecom and the Institute of Economics and Information Sciences at KBSU marked an important step in implementing a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening the scientific and educational potential of the North Caucasus and training highly qualified personnel for the domestic technology industry. Near-term plans include continuing professional development programs, creating interdisciplinary courses, and developing joint research initiatives aimed at addressing pressing challenges facing Russia’s digital economy.
