The exhibition «On the Roads of War» opens at the Museum of Fine Arts named after Tkachenko from March 14 till March 30

Release date: 15.03.2023

The exhibition presents the work of the Mitrofan Borisovich Grekov Studio, the world’s only creative association of military artists, created in 1934 in memory of the first battle painter Mitrofan Grekov. The studio preserves the traditions of Russian and Soviet realistic art, works on works of battle and patriotic themes.

With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, many Greeks went to the front along with marching companies. Throughout the war, studio artists, being in the army, continued to record everything they saw and experienced, which made it possible to reliably and convincingly convey in drawings, and later on canvases, the living breath of formidable hard times. Posters, front-line drawings and sketches of the Greeks became a symbol of wartime.

The works of the Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, front-line soldier Anatoly Mihailovich Sundukov, who went to the front in 1942 as a volunteer right from the bench of the Moscow Art School, will also be presented at traveling exhibitions in the palaces of culture and schools of the region. In the fire of great battles, the thoughts and feelings of the future artist matured and matured. As a prelude to future paintings, glorifying the feat of the Soviet people, a series of front-line drawings and sketches from 1942-1945 appears before the audience.
