Teleconference between KBSU and BSEU in honor of the Day of Unity of Russian and Belarus people
April 6 at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov hosted an international round table «At the origins of the Union State — national security», dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. Within the framework of cooperation between the Social and Humanitarian Institute of KBSU and the Belarusian State Economic University, a teleconference was held with the participation of teachers and students of both universities. Students of the diplomatic class of gymnasium No. 4, headed by director Rimma Nagoeva, also joined the work of the round table.
Muslim Tamazov, director of the SGI KBSU, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech:
Every year on April 2, the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus is celebrated. It was on this day in 1996 that the presidents of the two states signed an agreement “On the Formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus”. The fact of signing became the beginning of the process of mutual integration of countries. Almost thirty years have passed, and the friendship between our countries is only growing stronger. As sovereign states, developing as independent nations, we are bound by a common centuries-old history — the history of great victories in the name of the Fatherland and the heroic struggle for a peaceful future, for the right to live and work on our land. I congratulate everyone on this common holiday, which symbolizes our indestructible brotherhood and strong friendship. I wish a peaceful sky, well-being and prosperity to our countries.
Associate Professor of the Department of World History of the SHI KBSU Aksana Popova presented a report in which she noted that Belarus is an important strategic and economic partner of the Russian Federation.
On December 8, 1999, an agreement was signed on the creation of the Union State and an action program of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation to implement the provisions of the agreement on the creation of the Union State. Over the past time, the union project has proved its relevance and viability,
— Aksana Popova emphasized.
The KBSU teacher said that over more than two decades, Russia and Belarus have managed to establish mutually beneficial integration mechanisms, significantly strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, humanitarian and other fields. Mutually beneficial joint projects are being implemented, foreign and defense policy is being coordinated. Students of KBSU of philological and historical areas of training demonstrated knowledge of the Belarusian language, which they study as a kindred Slavic. Concluding the meeting, those present noted the need for joint youth scientific and educational projects in the future.
