The team of the youth club of the Russian Geographical Society «Mountain People», opened on the basis of the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, together with the RGS club «Altair» took part in the annual winter ascent to the top of Tarakla. Its height is 2,277 meters above sea level.
The hike, which was attended by both experienced mountain climbers and novice tourists, was dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
According to the established tradition, a memorial plaque was installed on the top of the mountain in honor of the heroes of the Battle of the Caucasus in 1942-1943.
Stanislav Kushchev, Head of the Youth Club of the Russian Geographical Society «Mountain People», Assistant of the Department of Economics and Management in Tourism at KBSU, believes that such events are important for teaching young people the basics of mountaineering and patriotic work.
«Conquering Mount Tarakla was not easy due to the large amount of snow on the route, but the breathtaking views were worth every step. At the top, at the memorial plaque for the 80th anniversary of the Victory, I, together with the guys, felt a feeling of deep gratitude to the heroes of the past. These moments remind us how important it is to remember history and appreciate every moment of life,» noted S. Kushchev.
The organizer of the ascent was the Youth Center of the Russian Geographical Society of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic with the support of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Kabardino-Balkarian Fire and Rescue Service, and the Border Department of the FSB of Russia for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
