Svetlana Khashirova — Vice-Rector of the Year

The Acting Vice-Rector for Research at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Svetlana Khashirova, was awarded the title of laureate of the national award of the Russian Professorial Assembly «Vice-Rector for Research» in the nomination «North Caucasus Federal District». The all-Russian public organization «Russian Professorial Assembly» profsobranie.ru was established and registered in 2017 on the initiative of a number of the largest universities in the country and more than 500 representatives of universities from 41 subjects of the Russian Federation. Today it unites more than 5,000 professors fr om 170 universities and research institutes from 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The award for the effective management of the research work of the university and contribution to the development of science and education «Vice-Rector of the Year for Research» was established by the Russian Professorial Assembly in order to preserve and further develop the scientific potential of higher education institutions, stimulate scientific and technological development and encourage vice-rectors for Research work of higher educational institutions, scientific and research organizations.

Professor, Doctor of Chemistry, Honored Scientist of the KBR, laureate of the State Prize of the KBR in the field of science and technology Svetlana Khashirova has been the Vice-Rector for Research at KBSU for more than three years. Under her leadership, a unique center of excellence for advanced polymers and additive technologies has been created at the university. The results of our own research have been published in more than 300 industry, academic and foreign journals and presented at international conferences. S.Yu. Khashirova holds more than 60 RF patents in the development of new polymers and polymer composites. 15 PhD students defended their Ph.D. dissertations under her supervision. Svetlana Yuryevna is the chairman of the dissertation council for the defense of doctoral and master’s theses in the specialty 02.00.06 «High-molecular compounds» at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization «Russian Union of Young Scientists», Chairman of the Kabardino-Balkarian Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public Organization «Russian Union of Young Scientists». From 2008 to 2018 she was the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic under the Government of the KBR, in 2010-2013. — Member of the Scientific and Expert Council under the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. From 2004 to 2018 she headed the Council of Young Scientists of KBSU.

Since 2019, when Svetlana Khashirova was appointed to the position of Vice-Rector for Research, the scientometric indicators of KBSU have been on a positive trend. Publication activity increased by more than one and a half times, the volume of research work amounted to more than 400 million rubles, 180 patents were received, which had a positive effect on various kinds of monitoring and ratings in which the university participated. The material and technical base of R&D was updated during this period by more than 100 million rubles. In 2019, the Elbrus Mirror Engineering Center was created at KBSU together with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University; three major projects for the development of new generation polymer materials and additive technologies were successfully completed with the support of the Advanced Research Fund and within the framework of the Federal Target Program «Research and Development in Priority Areas of Development of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014-2020». In 2021, for the first time, KBSU entered the subject rating in the Life Sciences direction, became a member of the world-class scientific center of the REC TulatTEH, the platform of the Scientific and Technological Initiative «New Production Technologies», a large interregional consortium «Hydrogen Technological Valley «.

KBSU has become one of the largest venues in the South of Russia for holding all-Russian and international scientific events. The number of conferences whose materials were included in the Scopus and WoS database increased six times compared to 2018. The participation of KBSU in prestigious international exhibitions has also increased, where 9 awards have been received. In 2019, within the framework of the Vernadsky consortium, for the first time in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a stage of the All-Russian Science Festival 0+ was held. The university has introduced a motivation system for young scientists to defend candidate and doctoral dissertations.

The ceremony of presenting the national award of the Russian professorial meeting «Vice Rector of the Year for Research» will be held as part of the scientific forum «Scientific Certification: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow», timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of Russian science, which is celebrated on February 8. The forum will be held in a mixed format on February 2, 2022 at the Russian Academy of Education (Moscow).
