“The Song Arsenal of Victory in the languages of the peoples of the North Caucasus” was demonstrated at KBSU by students of the Stavropol State Pedagogical University. Songs of the Great Patriotic War sounded in 20 languages.

The project of the scientific ethnographic expedition “The Song Arsenal of Victory in the Languages of the Peoples of the North Caucasus” was founded two years ago by the student activists of the Siberian State Pedagogical Institute. During the year, the guys searched for wartime songs in the national languages, translated popular frontline songs with the help of linguists, learned them under the guidance of professional vocal teachers and, finally, this year they opened a creative tour of the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District.

“Our students gave the first concert in their native Siberian State Pedagogical Institute, the next in Vladikavkaz, today we are in Nalchik. We hope that we will be able to visit all the universities that supported us on the expedition. Our project focuses on the implementation of a long-term cultural and language policy of the state aimed at developing Russian-national bilingualism as the only formula for ensuring the further integration of the peoples of the North Caucasus into the all-Russian culture, preserving national languages as the most important means of expressing self-awareness and cultural identification of peoples,” – said Alexander Fokin.

The concert in Nalchik began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist act in the city of Kerch.

The Stavropol guys demonstrated a very high level of vocal and choreographic skill, and after some compositions the hall did not want to let the artists off the stage. And, of course, our public was pleased to hear «Katyusha» in Kabardian and «Cranes» in Balkarian language performed by Stavropol students.

After the performance, the KBSU creative teams were invited to take part in the final summary concert of the project on May 9, 2019.
