SPbPU and KBSU signed an agreement on the creation of a university mirror engineering center
On September 3, 2020, an agreement was signed on the creation of a university mirror engineering center (USIC) between Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) named after H.M. Berbekov. The document was signed in a remote format.
The purpose of the agreement is to create on the basis of the KBSU im. H.M. Berbekova together with the NTI Competence Center «New production technologies» of the SPbPU University Mirror Engineering Competence Center «New production technologies» Elbrus «, whose work will be aimed at cooperation with Russian industrial enterprises in the field of digital transformation and the introduction of advanced production technologies. Interaction will be carried out within the framework of the implementation of the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation, the roadmap for the development of «end-to-end» digital technology «New Production Technologies», the roadmap «Technet» of the NTI, as well as within the framework of the activities of the World-Class Scientific Center Advanced digital technologies «, the status of which SPbPU received on August 28, 2020 based on the victory in the competition and the decision of the Council for State Support for the Creation and Development of World-Class Scientific Centers that carry out research and development in accordance with the priorities of scientific and technological development.
“In the area of our competencies, we share our experience in the use of advanced technologies and are ready, together with teams of partner universities, to carry out pilot projects aimed at solving urgent specific problems of industrial partners. The result of such activities is the completed complex scientific and technical projects, a trained team of specialists and a process of R&D execution built in a certain way. In this sense, the created USIC will act as the most effective tool for the transfer of our knowledge and competencies during the implementation of real projects, ”commented the Vice-Rector for Promising Projects of SPbPU, Head of the SPbPU NTI Center, Head of the Computer Engineering Center of SPbPU, leader (co-director) of the working group «Technet» NTI Alexey Borovkov.
«The creation of a mirror engineering center will allow our university to expand its competencies and reach the world level in the field of additive technologies, advanced materials, digital design, apply the best practices of the NTI Center» New Production Technologies «of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for the digital transformation of regional enterprises, the introduction of new production technologies in the economy of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The Center’s activities will also allow our students and graduate students to get a unique opportunity to study at the leading NTI Center of SPbPU. We plan to create a world-class scientific and educational center «Elbrus» in the region, we are actively working on the development strategy of the university to enter the program of academic strategic leadership as a national pivotal university and the creation of a mirror center is an important step to achieve the goals and bring the region to a new front line level of development «, — noted the vice-rector for research work of KBSU named after H.M. Berbekova, Head of the Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies, Head of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Macromolecular Compounds Svetlana Khashirova.
Recall that the cooperation of the NTI Center of SPbPU and KBSU named after H.M. Berbekova began at the Educational Intensive “Island 10-22 (Moscow), where the concept of USIC was first presented. As a result of this presentation, more than 50 regional universities have formed draft agreements with the NTI Center of SPbPU on the creation of a USIC on their basis. To date, agreements have been signed to establish (university) mirror engineering centers with the following partner organizations:

Fund «Regional Engineering Center» of the Perm Territory,
Astrakhan State University,
Udmurt Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University named after P.A. Solovyov and PJSC «UEC-Saturn».
