Scientific tourism: a unique chance to see the cutting-edge developments of KBSU

Release date: 04.08.2025

Popular science tourism is becoming increasingly attractive, offering the opportunity to see in practice how knowledge and technology are applied. A unique tour, “Journey to Science” has appeared in Kabardino-Balkaria, created by the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of KBSU named after Kh.M. Berbekov. Part of the tour is the Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies, which invites everyone to get acquainted with the latest developments in the field of polymer chemistry and 3D printing.

Unique laboratories and equipment

The Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies has modern equipment that allows not only to conduct research tests, but also to develop pilot samples of polymer products in large quantities. This significantly accelerates the introduction of new materials into industry, medicine and other industries that are in dire need of advanced solutions. Visitors to the center can see the process of obtaining polymers, as well as get acquainted with samples of superstructural materials printed on a 3D printer.

Leader in additive technologies

The KBSU Center is proud to be one of the strongest in Russia in the field of polymer additive technologies. Unique methods for synthesizing materials for 3D printing, as well as polymers and composite materials, have been developed here. The center’s specialists invent and apply technologies for manufacturing products using all existing 3D printing methods. The center also has a bioprinting laboratory, where living cell printing technologies have already been mastered, opening up new horizons in medicine and biotechnology.

Young and dynamic team

One of the key features of the center is its young and promising team. More than 30 scientists, all of them KBSU graduates, are actively engaged in scientific work. Every year the number of employees grows, and students and postgraduates are also involved in research activities. It is important to note that about 80% of the specialists working here already have academic degrees. The center also has one of the largest dissertation councils in the country, which confirms its high scientific status.

Educational initiatives

The center is actively involved in training specialists in all areas of polymer chemistry. In the near future, it is planned that all employees will have not only candidate but also doctoral degrees. This will create additional opportunities for students and postgraduates who want to immerse themselves in the world of science and innovation.

The Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies of KBSU is a real laboratory of the future, where science, education and practice intersect. Guests of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and KBSU are given a unique opportunity to see in practice how modern technologies work and how they can change our future.
