Science Week at KBSU: KITE Students Learned About Practical Robotics
A popular science lecture «Current Issues in Robotics,» was held at the College of Information Technology and Economics (KITE) of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. Kantemir Bzhikhatlov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics and Director of the Institute of Informatics and Regional Management Problems, a branch of the Kabardino-Balkarian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (KBSC RAS), delivered the presentation to students and faculty.
Kantemir Bzhikhatlov presented a broad overview of the institute’s current robotics projects, ranging from agricultural solutions to service robots for various purposes.
«Today, we’re not talking about theoretical concepts, but about practical developments already being implemented at our institute,» Bzhikhatlov noted. «It’s especially important for a scientific organization to involve college and university students in such projects—it’s among young people that the industry’s future workforce is formed. KBSU has traditionally been a key source of training specialists for regional science, and we are interested in strengthening this collaboration.»
The lecturer discussed in detail the use of robotics in the agricultural sector, which is particularly relevant for Kabardino-Balkaria. Examples of intelligent virtual prototyping systems, multi-agent platforms, and projects to create robots for cultural and information spaces, including virtual museums, were also presented.
Students inquired about internship opportunities and project participation, as well as employment prospects in the research departments of the KBSC RAS. The organizers hope that such meetings will become regular events.
