December 3 at the Boiling Point of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov, within the framework of the activity of the small innovative enterprise «Center for psychological assistance of KBSU», passed the first psychological training from the cycle «School of parental competence» for university employees with children. The training on the development of conscious parenting skills was organized and conducted by the Deputy Director of the Institute for Research and Informatization, Associate Professor of the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Culture and Sports Education, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Rimma Bagova and Associate Professor of the Institute of Psychology and Education and the Federal Social Service, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Budimir Nagoev.

The first meeting was devoted to the peculiarities of communication with children. As Rimma Bagova noted, curator and organizer of the School of Parental Competence, the training has several tasks. “The first is to give parents knowledge about the effective and ineffective communication of their thoughts and feelings to the child, approval and condemnation of his actions, about the style of relationships with the child. The second is to help parents understand their stereotypes of behavior, used ineffective strategies. The third is to teach the skills of emotional support, active listening, and the use of “I-statements” — shared Rimma Bagova. The participants of the training were university teachers and students of the psychological and pedagogical directions of training of the Institute of Industrial and Social Development and Financial Security. Psychologist Rimma Bagova gave some advice to young parents. For example, do not use a phone or tablet as a «nanny» for a child, always and everywhere maintain a positive emotional contact, do not prohibit, do not punish, do not arrange interrogations and searches, do not press or compare with other children.

“Help your child find himself off the Internet, show concern appropriately. The child should feel that you do not condemn him, but show concern (for example: «I am worried that you rarely see your friends», «I am worried that you do not get enough sleep», «I am worried about …») «, — noted Rimma Bagova. The next meeting from the educational cycle «School of Parental Competence» will be held on December 8 and will be devoted to the topic «Psychological readiness of parents to prevent Internet-related threats.»
