Russian scientists discussed digital trends in science and education at a conference organized by KBSU
The III All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation «Digital Transformation of Science and Education» was held from July 9 to 14 at the Elbrus Educational and Scientific Complex of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov.
More than 150 Russian scientists, teachers, graduate students and students, as well as representatives of industrial partners of Russian universities leading in the field of digitalization and information security, took part in the forum in full-time and part-time formats. “The conference discusses topics that are relevant for our country, in addition, KBSU is included in the Priority 2030 program, and one of the main directions of the development strategy is the digital transformation of the university,” emphasized, addressing the participants of the conference, acting. Vice-Rector for Research, KBSU Svetlana Khashirova. – The digital transformation of education means both individual learning paths, digital twins, digitalization of university management, improving the quality of distance learning, introducing more digital components into the educational and scientific process.
As far as science is concerned, this means providing more efficient communication between scientists, reducing the amount of experimental work due to the rapid processing of existing big data, and predicting the properties of future materials. Having a digitized database of various materials, we can predict in advance in which direction to conduct scientific research, and this will help to eliminate a huge number of additional experiments, save labor resources and accelerate the achievement of results. In addition, at present, information security both in education and in science is coming to the fore, and today the conference is attended by representatives of the Infotex company, the country’s leading developer of various information security systems.
They are ready to cooperate, to act as an industrial partner of our projects in the field of digitalization of education and science at our university. The conference is relevant, I hope it will be successful, and we plan to create a new consortium for the successful digital transformation of our university and the fulfillment of all the tasks that we face within the framework of the Priority 2030 program.” The conference was organized by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after A.I. HM. Berbekova, Director of the Institute — Albert Shapsigov emphasized that the topics of the traditional conference were updated taking into account modern challenges and tasks facing the higher education system and the scientific community in the field of information technology, artificial intelligence and information security. “As we know, training personnel for the digital economy, digitalization and ensuring information security in all spheres of life are priority areas not only for our republic, but for the whole country.
The conference will consider the most pressing problems in these areas and promising development trends. And the collection of scientific articles that will be published at the end of the conference, we hope, will help in achieving the goals set in this area,” said Albert Shapsigov. Within the framework of the conference, plenary sessions, a series of scientific discussions and master classes were held, corresponding to priority areas for the development of science, technology and technology in the Russian Federation. The moderator was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Tatyana Khashirova, Head of the Department of Computer Technologies and Information Security of the IIIiTC KBSU, which is at the forefront of the forum. She explained that the scientific program of the conference involves work in five thematic areas: “Digital trends in science and education: experience and problems of implementation”; «Artificial intelligence and robotics»; «Information technologies in ecology and nature management»; «Information security: new technologies — new risks»; «Digitalization of the economy: problems, solutions, innovations». “The popularity of the conference, the topics discussed at it, as well as the collection of scientific articles published by the organizing committee of the forum, is steadily gaining popularity, this is evidenced by the number of submitted scientific articles — 159, and the high status of participating organizations. We are on the threshold of a new reality in which the issues discussed at the conference are becoming more significant.
Under the conditions of unprecedented sanctions, cyber attacks on Russian state institutions and the information war launched against Russia, there is a restructuring, a review of the content of work in the information, communication and digital spheres, strategies for developing the digital environment and ensuring its security, including in educational institutions. Therefore, we are confident that the relevance of the conference will only grow,” — says Professor Tatyana Khashirova. In 2022, the conference was attended by the leadership of the Non-State Educational a large institution of additional professional education of the advanced training center «Training Center» InfoTeKS «», which announced their intention to sign a cooperation agreement with KBSU on a number of key aspects of the field of information security. “The Russian economy needs 200-250 thousand IT specialists per year, of which about half are security specialists, in many regions there is a very large need for these personnel,” said the general director of the NOCHU DPO CTC «Training Center» Infotex «» Anna Chefranova. — In the future, education will be hybrid with elements of distance and full-time teaching, at the request of the person. I would like education to be more flexible and work together with employers on these competencies. KBSU is the oldest university in the country, there are specialists who have long been preparing personnel for the scientific field, and for research, and including for the IT field. We have known the university for a long time, held events, representatives of the university often came to us, and it is very pleasant that after the events in Nalchik, in particular TechnoFest, government agencies began to actively pay attention to the need for information security training in your region.
The KBR is very well located, other Caucasian republics are nearby, there is an excellent base, equipment, not every region can boast of this, and it is very important that the government allocates funds for this, helps to participate in national projects, and this shows that the region and its educational system — an example to follow. And it is no coincidence that KBSU is one of the five universities that deal with issues related to digital transformation.” Director of the Institute of Information Sciences and Security Technologies of the Russian State University for the Humanities Galina Shevtsova emphasized that at present it is necessary to pay special attention to enhancing the communication of the university community and the conference held by KBSU is very relevant as a platform for such communication. “Now, more than ever, we need a single platform for educational programs for the exchange of experience between universities, scientific and industrial partners and compensation for the knowledge that we lack due to sanctions restrictions. The second, which is absolutely clear, is that it is necessary to engage in mass promotion of digital security and digital culture. If students and teachers of specialized areas of training are well versed in this, carefully use the information, carefully place their content on the Internet, but as for other areas of training, the picture is already different. They forget that it is impossible to completely remove content once posted on the Internet, and you need to be very careful about what is posted on social networks, instant messengers, and information portals. This is just one of the aspects of information security, and there are a lot of them, so it is necessary to introduce some kind of general discipline in digital culture, cyber security for absolutely all areas of training.
This must be introduced at the level of state educational standards, and here we raise such issues, and we hope that our recommendations will be heard at a high level,” said Galina Shevtsova. The work at the sections of the conference took place for five days, both experienced and young scientists announced their scientific reports, having received an assessment of the content of their scientific projects and research by colleagues, as well as certificates of forum participants. Among those registered for the conference are 159 participants from Serbia, Russia (Stavropol, Astrakhan, Krasnodar, Saratov, Moscow, Arzamas, Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, Nalchik, Sevastopol, Makhachkala, Grozny, Elista, Maykop, Belgrade, Zernograd and other cities) , including 10 Doctors of Science and 23 Candidates of Science from 25 universities and research centers (Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, Southern Federal University, Kuban State Agrarian University Maikop State Technological University, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Kalmyk State University named after B. The results of research on the conceptual and applied aspects of the digital transformation of real systems were presented, topical problems of introducing digital technologies into the education system and scientific research were considered, the results of research and development in the field of mechatronics and robotics, systems for automating the design and production of industrial products, and the implementation of full-fledged technical solutions were highlighted. , separate devices and auxiliary mechanisms. The reports on innovations in ecology and nature management, the main aspects of the transformation of business models and the social sphere in the prism of big data processing and analysis problems aroused keen interest. Scientific articles presented and voiced at the forum will be published on the conference website and in the conference proceedings with the assignment of ISBN and registration in the RSCI system.
