Over 300 Kabardino-Balkarian schoolchildren took the All-Russian Dictation in Foreign Languages at KBSU
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov (KBSU) served as the regional venue for the 10th anniversary All-Russian Dictation in Foreign Languages. The event, which attracted a record-breaking 34,000 participants from around the world, brought together over 300 high school students from across the republic to test their knowledge.
The dictation, organized by the Department of English and the Department of German and Romance Philology of the KBSU Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Participants had to complete a 22-sentence assignment in one of the foreign languages.
Participation in the Foreign Language Dictation was an important step in the students’ linguistic development. «This is a wonderful opportunity for students to objectively assess their language skills, identify areas requiring additional attention, and, of course, strengthen their self-confidence,
— noted Larisa Dzasezheva, head of the English Department.
The main goals of the annual event, initiated by Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, are to promote linguistic education, improve literacy, and strengthen inter-university and interregional ties.
In 2024, the dictation’s geography expanded to 67 regions of Russia and several foreign countries, including Belarus, Argentina, Cuba, Turkey, Germany, Egypt, Hungary, and Uzbekistan.
