«On the Way Up»: A Concert by Young Artists of the KBSU Song Theater «Amiks»
The KBSU Song Theater «AmikS» held a concert, «On the Way Up,» at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. Ten young artists, university students united by a shared love of song, took to the stage for the first time. The evening’s title, taken from the program’s final composition, symbolizes the upward movement—toward creativity, to the heights of mastery, to new horizons.
As the group’s director, Amir Kulov, explained, for the first time in a long time, the artists themselves chose the repertoire—from heartfelt, lyrical compositions to vibrant, fiery numbers:
«I merely guided them, helped with intonation, stage presence, and expressiveness, but the performers themselves made the final choice. And the result is inspiring: eyes sparkle, hearts open, and the music resonates truly.»
The concert opened with a performance of the Russian National Anthem, symbolizing respect for the country and the unity of its peoples.
A special highlight of the program was a multilingual version of the iconic ABBA song, performed in a unique arrangement: the first verse in Russian, the second verse in three languages: Kabardian, Balkar, and Hindi (thanks to a participant from India!), and the universally recognized English version concluded this vibrant musical mix.
The audience included not only friends, family, and classmates, but also faculty, colleagues, and the first members of «AmikS.»
The KBSU Song Theater «AmikS» was founded in 2003. From the very first chords, the young artists, inspired by the talent and energy of their director, managed to captivate the audience and earn their recognition.
The group’s repertoire covers a wide range of genres: from traditional folk songs to contemporary compositions. AmikS participants undergo comprehensive training, including vocal, choreography, and acting lessons. This individualized program is aimed at cultivating artists in the truest sense of the word—a well-rounded, vibrant, and professional individual.
Over the years, AmikS has become a true cradle of talent. It was here that such renowned artists, both within the republic and beyond, began their careers, including Astemir Apanasov, Tatyana Tretyak, Azamat Tsavkilov, Anzor Khusinov, Zamira Zhaboeva, and many others.
«AmikS doors are always open to young and ambitious vocalists. If you’re young, talented, and dream of singing, don’t hesitate to come to the casting. We’re confident you’ll easily find your place in our large and friendly family,» emphasized Amir Kulov.
