New folk costumes at the Scientific and Educational Center of Russian Language and Culture of KBSU
A new collection of Russian folk costumes has appeared at the Scientific and Educational Center of Russian Language and Culture of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.
Multi-colored sarafans in an authentic Russian style, embroidered with large colorful patterns; snow-white blouses; elegant bright kokoshniks; a soft linen cap-povoynik with a round or oval top; men’s kosovorotka shirts with colorful patterns; loose-fitting pants were sewn by a team of professionals at the Shakhty factory «Masquerade Boom».
The head of the Department of Russian Language and General Linguistics of KBSU, Professor Svetlana Bashieva, expressed her appreciation and sincere gratitude to the university administration for the financial support provided.
«Of course, the new folk costumes will enhance the aesthetic appeal of our center’s exhibition display and the events held there,» she noted.
«We will introduce our center’s guests to the heritage of Russian material culture, to the traditional features of national clothing, since folk costume can be considered as the socio-code of the Russian people,» added Nadezhda Chaika, head of the KBSU Russian Language and Culture Research Center.
