Linguistic society launched at KBSU
«Language is the key to cognition» — this is the theme of the first meeting of the linguistic circle of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov, which took place on November 21, 2022. The head of the society, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language and General Linguistics of the KBSU, Zalina Dokhova, noted that the linguistic circle united lovers of the word, its participants are 2nd and 4th year students of the direction «Philology (Russian Language and Literature)» and undergraduates of the 1st year. about. under the master’s program «Russian Philology», «Adyghe Philology».
«The goals and objectives of the society are a deeper study of the relationship of philological disciplines with other sciences, the application of linguistic methods in scientific research, the development of cognitive and intellectual activity of students, the study of issues of history, the formation and development of philology, the use of the creative potential of students to solve pressing problems», — commented Zalina Dokhova.
The scientific research of young linguists was mainly related to gender linguistics. This topic was reflected in the reports of Fatima Khubolova «Folklore as a source of gender knowledge», Diana Murzakanova «The specifics of feminitives in the modern Russian language», Alina Otarova «The language of the works of L. Ulitskaya and Y. Buyda: gender aspect».
Of particular interest was the presentation of Milana Soblirova with the report «Song discourse: understanding and specificity», in which the specific linguistic features of the texts of rap compositions were analyzed. The discussion of the reports turned out to be lively — the members of the linguistic circle showed themselves to be interested, active and inquisitive. The next meeting of the participants of the linguistic circle of KBSU will be held in February 2023. The topic of discussion will be «Song Discourse (Rock Song)».
During the meeting, the concept of song discourse as a communicative process will be defined, characteristics and main genres of song discourse will be given: rock (appellative function), rap (narrative and convincive functions), pop (emotive function), approaches to the study of song discourse (rock song ).
