KBSU will participate in the tourism project «Greater Caucasus»

Director of the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov Ramazan Ligidov took part in a strategic session on the development of a tourism scheme for the North Caucasus Federal District as part of the Greater Caucasus project. The meeting was held on August 18 at the Government House of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

The project «Greater Caucasus» at the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is being developed by the project office of LLC «ProGorod» within the framework of the national project «Tourism and hospitality industry». It is planned to identify 2-3 most popular holiday destinations in each region of the North Caucasus Federal District, including in Kabardino-Balkaria, in order to further develop them and provide the greatest access to tourist flows.

A multidisciplinary consortium LLC Novaya Zemlya is involved in the work on the project. It includes specialists in the field of master planning, business consulting in the field of tourism, local experts from the regions, as well as industry companies involved in area marketing, sociology, engineering and transport infrastructure. In the final version, a comprehensive project should be submitted for approval by the Government of the Russian Federation in 2024.

Kabardino-Balkaria is distinguished by a fairly favorable geographical position, it is a fairly large center of attraction with its ski resorts and a rich historical center. The capital of the region — the city of Nalchik is well located between two other major tourist magnets — Vladikavkaz and the agglomeration of Caucasian Mineralnye Vody. Now the authors of the project travel around the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District to assess possible prospects, consider large blocks: tourism, transport, culture, economy, all this is important in order to present the finished project in the most favorable light to the Government of Russia in the first quarter of next year,

The main issues discussed at the strategic session were related to the problem of the development of tourism infrastructure in the region, the specifics of the development of individual tourist destinations. The problems of the industry, the recreational potential of individual locations, the resources and limitations of tourist facilities, as well as cultural events held in the republic were also considered.

Special attention was paid by all experts and speakers to the need to strengthen the training of personnel, taking into account modern challenges and opportunities. And about. Director of the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of KBSU Ramazan Ligidov noted that the mission of the department he leads is to train highly qualified specialists who meet the required level of professional competence in the field of service, tourism and hospitality in accordance with the goals of the National Project «Tourism and Hospitality Industry» and the objectives of the Strategy development of tourism in the KBR until 2035.

Our task is to develop an interdisciplinary approach in the training of specialists in the field of tourism and the hospitality industry based on a spatial and project approach and use all modern tools and techniques to improve the quality of training. We plan to graduate annually more than 100 highly qualified specialists in the field of tourism and hospitality. We are ready to provide advanced training and professional retraining for employees of all levels of the tourism and hotel industry, specialized state and municipal employees. KBSU can also contribute and take an active part in such events at all stages of the project activity,

At the strategic session, during the discussion, attention was drawn to the resources and potential of the region, that Kabardino-Balkaria, like the North Caucasus as a whole, has a rich cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes and various types of recreation, which makes it attractive for tourists. The concept of developing a tourist scheme for spatial planning of the macro-territory «Greater Caucasus» was presented.

The most promising in the region are: natural, skiing, health-improving, cultural, educational and business types of tourism. Taking into account what was heard from experts and requests from representatives of the tourism industry and the hotel business, the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of KBSU will focus on the issues of training and increasing human resources based on an interdisciplinary approach. We will try to contribute to the creation of a favorable, comfortable ecosystem for tourism and recreation in our macroregion. It is also important to note that such events give impetus to the development of business ties and bring together representatives of educational institutions, organizations of various forms of ownership, the public, business and government,
