KBSU will develop polymers for medical equipment of Siberian manufacturers
August 3 Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with Sibmer LLC (Novosibirsk) and Radiation Technology LLC (Novosibirsk), within the framework of which she will develop samples of a radiation-resistant medical polymer. And about. Rector of KBSU Yuri Altudov welcomed the guests and noted that the medical industry, as well as pharmaceuticals, were among the 18 priority areas of the economy for import substitution. “The success of our cooperation can be simply phenomenal. And if the development strategies and the cooperation chain, which would include industrial partners and future customers, are chosen correctly, the effect can be achieved quite quickly,” Yuriy Kambulatovich emphasized. Before signing the contract, the guests from Novosibirsk were given a tour of the laboratories of the Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies of the KBSU, told about the possibilities of the material and technical base and the advantages of working with polymers.
“Combining with manufacturers of medical equipment and products will allow us, materials scientists, to quickly go through all the stages of certification of our materials and quickly introduce domestic materials into medicine. We have a whole line of radiation-resistant materials that can be successfully used for the development of equipment, for radiation therapy, the development of medical products, devices that operate in conditions of high radiation,» — said Svetlana Khashirova. Interest in materials related to exposure to radiation was confirmed by Vasily Ozheredov, director of the Radiation Technology company. “We specialize in maintenance and are currently developing new types of technology related to radiotherapy. Radiation impact on medical equipment requires modern materials that would take into account these properties. The time has come when the process of import substitution becomes irreversible, so there was a direct interest in the capabilities of the university,” said Vasily Petrovich. Sibmer Group of Companies and Radiation Technology are among the companies of small and medium-sized businesses, he stressed. “We are well aware of our capabilities, but we set real goals and the first results of the agreement can be commercialized by us within six months, these are real prospects that small businesses like us can afford. Our program of work with KBSU covers a number of areas and in the future the boundaries of our projects will be expanded, the prospects for cooperation are seen for the next few years,” — Ozheredov specified.
