Release date: 28.11.2025

Students of KBSU have achieved success in the business project competition held at the International Financial, Investment, and Media Forum of the BRICS Countries «New Milestones of Development in the Context of the ESG Economy.» Their project, dedicated to combating environmental greenwashing, was recognized as the best. The forum was held at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

The project «GreenWashGuard: An Interactive Media Resource for Investigating Brands’ Environmental Claims with a Crowdsourcing System and AI Analytics,» presented by Inal Shibzukhov, a student majoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and Law, and Alisa Shibzukhova, a student majoring in Journalism and Economics, received the competition’s top award.

The project’s goal is to provide consumers with a simple and reliable tool for verifying the sincerity of brands. The platform will publish a «Sincerity Index» of companies, calculated using AI analytics, legal expertise, and crowdsourcing. Users will not only be able to learn the truth about «green» claims but also generate a complaint to the Federal Antimonopoly Service or Rospotrebnadzor with a single click.

«Parallel studies in Jurisprudence helped me develop a legally sound analysis methodology. Alisa, who also studies economics, and fellow economists from the Higher School of Economics and the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade provided a thorough analysis of the financial and business aspects. It was this synthesis—IT, journalism, law, and economics—that allowed us to create a comprehensive and competitive solution,» shared Inal Shibzukhov.

GreenWashGuard’s key advantage is the synergy of its interdisciplinary team, bringing together specialists from technology, law, economics, and journalism. It was this integrated approach that the jury noted, giving the KBSU students’ project a high rating.

According to Andemirkan Shidov, Head of the Department of Economics and Accounting and Analytical Information Systems at the Institute of Economics, Finance, and Finance, winning this prestigious international forum confirms the high level of training of KBSU students and their deep knowledge of sustainable development and ESG economics.
