On the eve of Victory Day, members of the youth club of the Russian Geographical Society «Mountain People» of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov climbed «Height-910» near the village of Atazhukino.

Students representing the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of KBSU covered the route to the memorial to the heroes-liberators. Having laid flowers at the monument, the activists honored the soldiers’ feat with a minute of silence.

«Height-910» is a significant place in the Baksan district of Kabardino-Balkaria. In August-September 1942, bloody battles took place here on the approaches to the capital of the republic. Thanks to the courage of the Soviet soldiers, time was gained to prepare Nalchik for defense, the Tyrnyauz mining and processing plant was evacuated through mountain passes, and Hitler’s plans for a breakthrough to the Caspian Sea and the oil fields of the Caucasus were thwarted.

The hike was organized as part of the tourist and educational project of the Youth Center of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic «More than paths». Activists of the youth tourist center «Vershina» also visited Height 910.
