KBSU student Azamat Temukuyev won silver at the Kabardino-Balkarian MMA Championship and advanced to the regional stage
Azamat Temukuyev, a student at the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Physical Education and Sports at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov (KBSU), won silver at the Kabardino-Balkarian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship and Junior Championship. The competition took place last weekend at the Nalchik Sports Complex.
The tournament brought together over 250 athletes from across the republic. Bouts were contested in several age categories, including juniors and adults. Azamat Temukuyev competed in the 62 kg weight class and fought four grueling bouts in one day, finishing second. This result earned him a spot on the Kabardino-Balkarian national team for the North Caucasus Federal District Championship, which will be held in March in the Republic of Ingushetia.
«This was a serious testing tournament. Four fights in one day tested not only technique but also character,» shared Azamat Temukuev. «I’m grateful to my coach and the university for their support. I’m glad that my hard work in the gym paid off and allowed me to earn a spot in the North Caucasus Federal District Championship. Now I’m fully focused on preparing for the March competition in Ingushetia. I’m focused solely on victory.»
Azamat trains under the guidance of Zalim Pshukov, President of the MMA Federation of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. His work in developing the discipline in the region is already yielding tangible results: in recent years, students of the Kabardino-Balkarian MMA school have regularly won prizes at national and international tournaments.
We congratulate Azamat Temukuev on his successful performance and wish him continued success in the upcoming competitions.
