KBSU student Adam Aliev will compete in the MMA World Championship

Release date: 10.06.2025

Adam Aliev, a student of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, made a successful debut at the Russian MMA Championship, winning a bronze medal. In August, the athlete will fight for the main trophy — the title of world champion.

The Russian Championship was held in Samara and brought together the strongest fighters of the country. Adam Aliev competed for the first time in the adult category, trying his hand among experienced athletes.

In the first fight, I met with a local «star» from Samara and won with a score of 3:0, knocking him out at the end of the third round. In the second fight, by unanimous decision of the judges, I won against the 2023 Russian champion. In the third fight, I was a little unlucky — I am a striker, and my opponent turned out to be the European champion in grappling. The fight turned into a grappler’s fight, and in this viscosity I lost a little. I’m going to the World Championships with a mindset for revenge! I’m working on my shortcomings and plan to reach another level,

— Adam shares.

There are a couple of months left until the World Championships, preparations are in full swing, training twice a day.

The hardest part is weight loss, — Adam admits. — You lose a few kilograms, drink 5 liters of water a day. It’s hard, but all the work pays off when you stand on the podium. I’m very happy that I will represent Kabardino-Balkaria at the world level, and I promise that it will be spectacular. I will bring a medal to the KBR!
Adam manages to combine intense training with studying at KBSU. This year he is graduating from a pedagogical college and plans to continue his education at the university.

I have to defend my diploma thesis, after which I will enter the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Culture and Sports Education. KBSU provides me with all the opportunities and conditions for studying, and the teachers meet me halfway, understanding that I train a lot. I am very grateful to them!

– Adam notes.

Adam trains under the guidance of Artur Khashukoev, President of the Federation of Mixed Martial Arts MMA KBR Zalim Pshukov and Vice President of the Federation of Mixed Martial Arts MMA KBR Artur Abaev.

I had no doubt that Adam would become the champion of Russia, – recalls Artur Khashukoev. – The mood was fighting, but, unfortunately, something went wrong. I have been training him for 4 years, from the very beginning I saw great potential in him. Therefore, at the upcoming world championship, I think Adam has more than real chances of winning. Now we are working on our mistakes and practicing everything to the fullest extent.

In parallel with the championship, the world championship in MMA will be held, three more fighters from KBR have joined the junior team.

The national team also includes three more athletes from our republic — Imran Mansurov, Emirkhan Geloev and Renat Dzhafarov. They will compete among juniors. We have high hopes for Adam and all our guys, — says Vice President of the SBE MMA Federation Artur Abazov. — Our sports federation is actively developing, we have many prize winners and champions, and I am sure that this time the republic will be proud of our students.

Artur Abazov also shared plans for cooperation with the Kabardino-Balkarian State University:

In September, we plan to open a student MMA league at KBSU, which will be an important step in the development of this sport in the region. The league will open new opportunities for students to train and compete, and will also help identify promising athletes who can represent the republic at various tournaments.

KBSU is proud of its student athletes and wishes Adam Aliyev and the entire Russian team a successful performance!
