KBSU square is opened in Nalchik
A new square for the new academic year was received on September 1 by the staff of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov and residents of Nalchik. The solemn opening ceremony was timed to coincide with three significant dates at once: the 100th anniversary of the statehood of Kabardino-Balkaria, the 90th anniversary of the founding of KBSU and the Day of Knowledge.
On behalf of the head of the republic, within the framework of the national project «Housing and a comfortable environment», 7 public areas of the capital of the republic were landscaped, including the KBSU square, where residents of nearby areas like to spend time, and university students traditionally prepare for classes, communicate and relax with friends. From April to May 2021, the residents of the KBR decided which territories would be chosen for development. Deputy head of the local administration of the city of. Timur Khurov opened a new park in Nalchik and congratulated the students present on the beginning of the new academic year. According to the employees of the municipal administration supervising the project, the new square will become a place for work and study in the open air, chamber performances, accumulation of ideas, various presentations and film screenings. The entire infrastructure, from lanterns and benches to the amphitheater, will soon work to create a creative environment. Due to its location, the square will become a territory for informal communication between students and an important point in the urban space.
“Thanks to an effective state policy, despite the difficult conditions of sanctions and restrictions, new socially significant buildings, educational and cultural institutions, transport interchanges, recreational areas like this one are appearing in Russian cities. And today our society must unite in order to achieve the goals of development and well-being,” — said Timur Khurov.
“The improvement changes that are taking place at our university are amazing. It’s nice to be a part of this friendly university family, which is also growing due to foreign students and children from Donetsk and Lugansk, who, thanks to the state support program, have received the opportunity to study at KBSU and eight other developed universities in Russia,” — said Elizaveta Khutorskaya, Deputy Chairman of the KBSU Student Council.
Member of the board of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional branch of the All-Russian public-state organization «Assemblies of the Peoples of Russia», People’s Artist of the KBR Amurbi Tekuev congratulated in his speech on the 100th anniversary of the republic and noted that the most important thing is the unity of a multinational country, it has repeatedly rallied people against the common enemy, helped defeat Nazism.
For reference: In total, seven new squares will appear in the capital of the republic: next to the Kabardino-Balkarian State University, Kurortny Square on Kanukoev Street, squares on Gagarin Street, in Volny Aul on Amshokov Street, at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Tarchokov Street, Komarov and Malbakhov Streets, Idarov and Movsisyan.
