KBSU specialists held a lecture on cybersecurity for students of the Agricultural University
How can you protect your personal data, money, and accounts from cybercriminals? Students of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Agricultural University named after V.M. Kokov received answers to these questions during a lecture given by specialists from the Coordination Prevention Center of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.
The center’s experts, Murat Teberdiev and Alim Maremukov, analyzed in detail the most common online scams: from phishing emails and fake websites to social engineering and messaging fraud. Particular attention was paid to practical recommendations: how to recognize suspicious messages, reliably protect personal data, set up two-factor authentication, and prevent information leaks on social media.
«Today, threats aren’t limited to hacking accounts—they penetrate consciousness,» emphasized Murat Teberdiev, who also delivered a thematic presentation titled «Destructive Content as a 21st Century Threat.»
Using real-world examples, he demonstrated how social platform algorithms amplify emotionally charged, provocative, and aggressive content, turning it into a staple of the digital space.
«When a user likes hateful content, reposts fake news, or remains silent when confronted with disinformation, they’re not just an observer. They’re an active participant in a system that encourages destruction,» Teberdiev stated.
The expert emphasized that creating a safe digital space is a shared responsibility. He urged the students to take a proactive stance, noting that society must not only respond to destructive content but also work proactively to prevent its spread.
The lecture resonated with the audience. Students actively asked questions about how to protect data in the face of widespread AI use, how to effectively combat cyberbullying, and how to distinguish reliable information from manipulative ones. KBSU specialists provided comprehensive recommendations, and the students noted that the knowledge they gained is an important tool for living safely in the digital world.
