KBSU scientists discussed the strategy for the development of biological education in Russia
From May 20 to May 24, 2024 in Nizhny Novgorod, on the basis of the Institute of Biology and Biomedicine of NINGU named after N.I. Lobachevsky, a Plenum of the Council entitled “Biological Sciences” was held. The event was attended by employees of the Institute of Chemistry and Biology of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, including the head of the Department of Biology, Geoecology and Molecular Genetic Foundations of Living Systems, Professor Anzor Yuryevich Paritov and Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Biological Sciences Diana Adamovna Khashkhozheva.
The agenda covered key issues of the development of Russian biological education in the context of modern challenges. During the event, methodological recommendations for the design of educational programs in accordance with Federal State Educational Standard-4 were presented. Visionary lectures by famous Russian scientists allowed participants to gain new knowledge in various fields of biology. The topics of the reports included “Self-similarity of biosystems: from fractals to physiology and global patterns”, “Electrical signals of plants”, “Modern genetic technologies in plant growing” and “Some modern trends in genetics”.
In addition, a refresher course entitled “Strategic approaches to the development of biological education in the Russian Federation and the popularization of life sciences in the context of modern challenges” was organized, after which participants were issued certificates.
During the round table on the topic “Modern practices of transforming biological education,” Paritov made a report “Features of organizing the practices of biologists at KBSU in connection with the digital transformation of education.” Paritov, emphasizing the importance of adapting students’ practices to the digital transformation of education:
In addition to their own practice bases at KBSU, biology students also undergo internships in other specialized organizations. Among them: the Republican Children’s Social Rehabilitation Center “Raduga”, the Kabardino-Balkarian Reference Center of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, the Central Clinic, the Federal State Budgetary Institution “National Park “Elbrus”, the Kabardino-Balkarian High Mountain Reserve and others. For some types of practices at KBSU, elements of digitalization are used, such as the Museum of Wildlife, the Educational and Scientific Laboratory “Herbarium named after L.H. Slonov”, Research Center “Genetics and Selection named after M.K. Kerefov”, Research Laboratory “Biophysics of Neuroinformational Technologies”. All this helps to increase the effectiveness of practice-oriented training for students.
