KBSU: meeting of the Academic Council

On June 28, 2021, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov. Five questions were put on the agenda: about the indicators of KBSU in monitoring the effectiveness of the activities of universities and the tasks of improving its results; on the approval of the Priority-2030 project; assignment of scholarships to students of KBSU; on the recommendation of students of KBSU for a scholarship of the Government of Russia in priority areas of modernization and technological development of the Russian economy for the 1st half of the 2021/2022 academic year; competitive cases.

Svetlana Yuryevna Khashirova, acting vice-rector for research work of KBSU, in her report on the first issue, said that since the launch of monitoring of the effectiveness of universities in 2017, which is annually carried out by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the number of performance indicators of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov increased.

«To date, KBSU fulfills all the performance indicators of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, published in the public domain in the information and analytical environment,» — said vice-rector of KBSU.

Turning to the second question, Svetlana Khashirova informed the Academic Council of KBSU that on June 24, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation launched the Priority-2030 program, which will allow concentrating resources to ensure the contribution of Russian universities to achieving the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030, to increase the scientific and educational potential of universities and scientific organizations, as well as to ensure the participation of educational institutions of higher education in the socio-economic development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The goal of the “Priority-2030” program is to form in Russia more than 100 progressive modern universities — centers of scientific, technological and socio-economic development of the country.

«According to this project, Russian universities should decide which path of development they should take: «research leadership» or «territorial and technological leadership». We have chosen the second path of the special part of the grant: “territorial and technological leadership,» — noted Svetlana Yurievna.

During the development of the university development program until 2030 with the aim of the university’s participation in the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation «Priority 2030» at one of the strategic sessions, the head of the university Yu.K. Altudov noted:

Solving the ambitious task of ensuring the high competitiveness of the university, we determine the development trajectory of KBSU in accordance with the main vector of the socio-economic development of the region. Consequently, the prospects of each educational and scientific unit of the university should be consistent with the main goals of the largest university of the republic, such as improving the quality of education, expanding the range of training areas and specialties, improving research performance, developing and introducing new technologies into the real production sector, participating in the process of job creation and employment of graduates of KBSU.
High-quality educational process; improving the quality of scientific products; development of technologies that will be directed to the economic sphere — such results are expected from us by the region.

Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Lesev spoke on other issues on the agenda.
