KBSU is ready for the academic year
On August 25, the rector of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov Yuri Altudov took part in an online meeting of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov with the heads of higher educational institutions of Russia, at which the readiness of universities for the 2020-2021 academic year was discussed in the context of restrictions associated with the current epidemiological situation.
Among the main issues discussed are the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process for teachers and students both in full-time and in distance formats, the provision of universities with personal protective equipment and technical teaching aids for working in small groups. The heads of higher education institutions were given recommendations on how to organize activities taking into account the prevention of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
This information on the same day was reflected in the meeting of Yuri Altudov with the participation of vice-rectors and heads of structural divisions of KBSU, who reported on the readiness of the university to start the educational process, discussed topical issues that need to be resolved before the start of the academic year.
“We can make different decisions for different departments. Directors of institutes, deans of faculties are entitled to independently resolve issues related to ensuring the safety of the educational process, — stressed the rector of KBSU. — The management of the university understands that every day there are many issues that need to be resolved promptly, without delay, but for all of us a priority is the preservation of the health of students, teachers, and all employees. In this important matter, we constantly feel the assistance of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, whose leadership provides universities not only with advisory, but also financial support. »
It was noted at the meeting that the largest university in Kabardino-Balkaria will begin the academic year as usual, on September 1. Measures for the prevention of coronavirus infection and preparation for the educational process are carried out in full and in strict accordance with the orders and recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science and Rospotrebnadzor of Russia.
Entrance groups of all educational buildings of KBSU are equipped with modern equipment for non-contact thermometry and hand antiseptic treatment. One of the best stationary thermal imagers in the region is installed at the entrance to the main building, designed for a large flow of visitors, combined with an access control system. There are buffer zones for identified persons with fever. Bactericidal air recirculators and antiseptic, safe for people to stay, were purchased for the systematic treatment of contact surfaces in public places and sanitary facilities.
Schemes for the separation of human streams in educational buildings, at the entrance and exit of buildings are being worked out. In order to separate the study groups as much as possible, the reserve classroom fund of KBSU and a new schedule of classes will be used, providing for study in two, and in some departments — in three shifts. Part-time and part-time forms of study for the period of restrictions are transferred to distance learning. Physical education classes are supposed to be held outdoors, taking into account the weather. Mass events will not be temporarily held.
Trainees must wear medical masks and maintain adequate social distance. The administration of the university intends to act «correctly, but toughly» with regard to violators of the internal regulations. But teachers over 65 have been given preferences — if they wish, they can choose a remote mode of work.
In the summer, the Department of Operation of the Property Complex of KBSU repaired a number of buildings and premises of the university campus. By the beginning of the academic year, it is planned to open the modernized KBSU museum, as well as the building of the hostel number 12, which will temporarily be used as an observatory for foreign students arriving from abroad who are obliged to undergo a two-week self-isolation and testing for COVID-19. The courtyard and the territory adjacent to the university have been landscaped. In general, the preparatory work is close to completion and the university will warmly open its doors to students in six days.
In the presence of the meeting participants, the rector of KBSU, Yuri Altudov, presented the university’s deputy vice-rector for research Fatima Betalovna Nakhusheva with a certificate of honor of the university for many years and conscientious work and in connection with the anniversary.
