KBSU in the list of 2000 best universities in the world according to MosIUR
The results of the seventh edition of the Moscow International Ranking «Three Missions of the University» were presented during a press conference, which was held in person at TASS on August 30, 2023.
According to the results of the Moscow International University Ranking «Three Missions of the University» in 2023, Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov entered the interval group 1751-2000 in the world ranking, in addition, he entered the interval group 128-154 among Russian universities.
In 2023, the number of universities represented in the global Three University Missions ranking increased from 1800 to 2000. According to this parameter, the ranking is the most representative in the world. The list of the best includes universities from 112 countries, including 154 Russian universities.
The list of the best universities in the world includes universities from 46 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. KBSU was among the representatives of the universities of the North Caucasus Federal District, the performance of which made it possible to enter this rating and represent the district together with the federal university — NCFU.
Congratulations to the staff, teachers and students of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov with a high result — entry into the Moscow international rating «Three Missions of the University»!

The Moscow International University Ranking «Three Missions of the University» is a fundamentally new academic ranking, which for the first time evaluates all three key university missions: education, science and interaction with society. The rating methodology has undergone a large-scale public discussion. More than 200 Russian universities took part in the development and improvement of the methodology, and the international expert council included 25 authoritative specialists from 16 countries.
The rating marked the beginning of a turn of global rankings towards assessing the significance of the university for society, the “third mission”, which previously remained outside the field of view of rating agencies. Thanks to its fundamental novelty, MosIUR was highly appreciated by experts.
The pilot version of the Moscow International University Ranking «Three Missions of the University» was published in 2017. In 2018, the rating was successfully audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers Audit, a member of the PwC global network.
To compile the rating, only objective criteria approved by international experts are used; reputation polls are completely excluded. At the same time, the range of information sources for the rating is much wider than traditionally used in existing popular ratings.
The main sources of information used to compile the rating:
– official reports of universities, data from websites of universities and national authorities;
– the largest aggregator of online course platforms Class Central;
– national mass education platforms “Open Education” (Russia) and icourse163.org (China);
— public multilingual universal encyclopedia «Wikipedia»;
– statistics of search engines Google, Yandex, Baidu;
– statistics of social networks;
– websites of international student Olympiads;
The formation of the rating «Three Missions of the University» was initiated by the Russian Union of Rectors in accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia V.V. Putin. Rating operator – the Association of Compilers of Ratings, Rankings and Other Performance Evaluations (ACP), whose members are leading rating and research centers.
