KBSU in the international rating THE Impact Rankings — 2023

Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov has come close to the cohort of the best higher educational institutions in the world according to the British edition of Times Higher Education. On June 1, the international rating agency Times Higher Education published the fifth edition of the University Impact Rankings, which assesses the impact of universities on the development of society and the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals.

The Times Higher Education rankings are among the most respected in the world. Their advantage is a carefully calibrated methodology, developed in collaboration with readers and the editors of the Times Higher Education magazine with the participation of Thomson Reuters.

THE University Impact Rankings assesses the involvement of universities in the process of achieving the sustainable development goals for the period up to 2030, approved by the UN General Assembly. When compiling the ranking, 17 goals given in the UN resolution of 2015 were taken as a basis. The new ranking includes more than 1.5 thousand of the world’s strongest universities from 112 countries — 185 universities more than in the previous year.

In 2022, KBSU was ranked in four categories: «Quality Education», «Decent Work and Economic Growth», «Good Health and Wealth» and «Partnership for Sustainable Development», ranking 60th out of 94 Russian universities -participants.

In 2023, KBSU was ranked in such categories as «Quality Education», «Decent Work and Economic Growth», «Reducing Inequality» and «Partnership for Sustainable Development», and significantly improved its position — ranked 48th among the included in the ranking of 86 Russian universities (in the 1001+ group, KBSU ranks 5th among Russian universities). This became possible, in particular, due to the improvement of the indicators of the research work of KBSU scientists and the contribution of the university to the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals.
