KBSU in the international ranking Times Higher Education
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov was included in the international rating dedicated to assessing the impact of universities on the process of implementing the sustainable development goals formulated by the United Nations for the period up to 2030. By participating in UN programs, universities demonstrate their importance in promoting vital values. The ranking, compiled by the British edition of Times Higher Education (THE — a weekly magazine specializing in news and other issues of higher education), is among the top three in the field of assessing the quality of universities, along with Quacquarelli SymondsWorld University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai rating. In 2022, THE University Impact Rankings ranked over 1,400 universities from 106 countries, incl.
94 universities from Russia. The ranking methodology is based on the analysis of three areas of activity of universities: research — the creation of knowledge to solve the most pressing global problems; socially-oriented programs — the direct activity of the university in society; management — resource management, the contribution of the university to education in a broad sense. The rating is based on data provided by universities, as well as on bibliometric data from Elsevier (one of the four largest scientific publishing houses in the world, which annually publishes about a quarter of all articles from scientific journals published in the world).
To take part in the ranking, the university must submit data for at least four goals. According to Times Higher Education analysts at KBSU named after H.M. Berbekov demonstrates high performance in the following sustainable development goals: SDG 3 — good health and well-being, SDG 4 — quality education, SDG 8 — decent work and economic growth, SDG 17 — partnership for sustainable development. According to the results of the rating, KBSU entered the 1001+ group along with such Russian universities as Moscow Polytechnic University, Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology, Kazan National Research Technological University and others. Among 94 universities of the Russian Federation — participants in the rating, KBSU is in 60th place.
