KBSU Has Convincing Indicators Of Development

On January 29, a meeting of the Council of Rectors of the North Caucasian Federal District was held at the Pyatigorsk State University with the participation of the authorized representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasian Federal District of the hero of Russia Alexander Matovnikov.

The main issue on the agenda was “On the creation of a set of conditions in the universities of the North Caucasus Federal District to solve problems in the field of higher education, defined in the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 7, 2018 No. 204”. Speaking with a welcoming speech, Alexander Matovnikov outlined the main tasks in the work of higher schools: the modernization of vocational education, the creation of a modern and safe digital educational environment, an increase in the number of foreign citizens studying in educational institutions of higher education and scientific organizations of the district more than 2 times.

The plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia also outlined a plan of work to be carried out on the territory of the North Caucasus Federal District, and wished the heads of universities success in its implementation.

In turn, the chairman of the Council of Rectors of North Caucasian Federal Districts, Rector of Pyatigorsk State University, Alexander Gorbunov, positively described the readiness of universities in the North Caucasus to implement Presidential Decree No. 204 of May 7, 2018 “On the national goals and strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation for the period until 2024” in terms of the development of higher education.

“A whole complex of the Provisions of the Presidential Decree relating to the sphere of higher education and its capabilities has turned out, which we have already transformed into the Complex of basic activities for our universities to fulfill the tasks set in the Decree,” Alexander Gorbunov emphasized.
Then the floor on the merits of the agenda was given to heads of higher educational institutions. They discussed and adopted a draft resolution of the Council of Rectors of the North Caucasus Federal District, with an annex, which sets out a set of key events for 2019-2024.

The KBSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs who participated in the meeting, Vadim Lesev, commented on the issues discussed by the Council:

“It is gratifying to note that the indicators of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University look very convincing. For example, the Presidential Decree designated the task: to increase to 2024 at least twice the number of foreign citizens studying in educational institutions of higher education and scientific organizations. In our university, the increase in the number of foreign students in 2018 over the previous year was more than 30%. We are also intensively working in all areas indicated in the plan of measures for the implementation of the presidential Decree regarding the implementation of adaptive, practice-oriented and flexible educational programs,” — said Vadim Lesev.
During the consideration of the second question, Anton Serikov, the head of the interaction with partners of the autonomous non-profit organization Russia-Country of Opportunities, outlined a number of tasks to increase the involvement of university students from the North Caucasus Federal District in projects and competitions, the closest of which is I where students of KBSU actively participate.
