KBSU graduate brings gold to Russia at the World Judo Championship

In June 2025, Russian judoka, graduate of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov Timur Arbuzov won a resounding victory at the World Judo Championship in Budapest, winning a gold medal in the 81 kg weight category.

Since childhood, he trained under the guidance of his father and already at a young age began to show outstanding results. After finishing school, Timur entered KBSU, where he continued not only his studies, but also his sports career, combining studies with regular training and performances at major tournaments.

In the final fight, 21-year-old Timur Arbuzov defeated Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia, a three-time world and European champion. Arbuzov’s gold medal was the first for our country’s team at this world championship and confirmed the leading position of the Russian judo school.
