On the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a memorial event dedicated to the heroes who defended freedom and peace for future generations of our country was held in the library of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov (KBSU). Students from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Africa participated.
Abdullah Khochuev, Deputy Chairman of the KBSU Veterans Council, delivered a welcoming speech. He recalled that the Great Patriotic War was one of the most terrible in the history of mankind.
This war lasted 1418 days and nights. All the peoples of the Soviet Union united in the fight for freedom. Among them were the Turkmen people, who made a significant contribution to the Victory,
— Khochuev emphasized.
At the meeting in the university library, young people from different parts of the world demonstrated their respect for the memory of the heroes who fought against fascism and defended their native land. The students read poems about the war, including works by authors from Kabardino-Balkaria. The children also talked about their ancestors who went to the front or worked in the rear during the war.
The event was held in Russian. The students, who had just begun to study it, prepared for the event under the guidance of the deputy director of the university library, Zarema Bagova.
The meeting ended with a minute of silence in memory of all those killed.
