KBSU entered the top-50 Russian universities in the GreenMetric world ranking
The results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings -2024 have been summed up. Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov entered the number of the «greenest» universities in the world, taking 1215th place among 1477 universities from 95 countries.
Among the 50 higher education institutions of Russia included in the ranking, KBSU settled in 43rd place, becoming the best in the North Caucasus Federal District. The university scored maximum points in the groups of indicators «Transport» and «Environment and Infrastructure». This success testifies to the effective work of Kabardino-Balkarian State University in the field of sustainable development and environmental management.
The management of KBSU motivates students and staff to take a responsible attitude towards the environment, energy and water conservation issues, and actively implement «green» technologies on campus.
The purpose of the UI GreenMetric rating is to rank universities by the level of sustainable environmental development of campuses and the creation of an energy-saving model for managing an educational institution. The list is compiled by the University of Indonesia and is published for the fifteenth time.
The founders of the rating seek to draw the attention of the academic community to the need to pursue a sustainable environmental development policy to solve environmental problems.
The main groups of indicators by which universities are assessed within the UI GreenMetric rating are the environment and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transport, education and research.
It should be noted that the university’s performance in international rankings is an important criterion that foreign applicants focus on when choosing a university. And industry experts and government organizations use data on the position of a particular university in an international ranking to decide on cooperation.
