KBSU continues «University shifts» for schoolchildren from the DPR
89 schoolchildren from 12 to 17 years old from the Donetsk People’s Republic plunged into the atmosphere of unique mountain landscapes, became participants in creative master classes in psychology, sports and tourism, at interesting lectures they plunged into the history of Russia and the KBR, in other words, they spend time with great pleasure and benefit for yourself. From August 23 to September 1 on the basis of the Elbrus educational and scientific complex of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov is going through the second stream of the Russian project “University Shifts”.
“I think that at the end of the shift their vitality has definitely increased, the children have become more joyful, more open, their eyes are shining. Staying here definitely benefited them, because lately everyone has been forced to stay at home, in apartments, not to go out, because being on the street is a threat to life, but here they feel freedom. This is something we haven’t experienced for a long time,” — shared Yulia Churkina, a Russian language teacher from Donetsk.
Employees and volunteers of KBSU approached the organization of the event with the utmost responsibility: the priority is an interesting and informative educational program, a safe, eventful vacation and assistance in the psychological rehabilitation of children from the DPR.
“When we went to pick up the children, they were already in anticipation. Many of them have already seen and read the materials of the first shift. Children are maximally involved in all educational, interactive and sports activities. Most of all they like our hiking trips. Every day, curators collect feedback from schoolchildren, and so far not a single bad comment has been received, starting with food and living conditions, ending with the daily routine,” — said Artur Akhmetov, the shift organizer, head of the Balkarian culture center at KBSU.
Schoolchildren spent 10 busy days: 32 hours of the educational block and cultural, educational and creative programs. For the children, not only classes on the history and culture of Russia, artistic and aesthetic and scientific and technical workshops, quests, entertainment and sports events were planned, but also an excursion to the Maiden’s Braids waterfall, a hike to the Azau glade, a visit to the highest mountain museums in the world (3500 m above sea level) — the Museum of Defense of the Elbrus region and a walk along the ecological path «Narzans Glade — Cheget Glade».
“Everything was very pleasant on the shift, we visited incredibly beautiful places, the organizing team is very good, they always try to help. The most memorable, perhaps, is how we climbed the mountain two and a half hours later and there was an incredibly beautiful waterfall and a beautiful view, I can hardly forget it,” — said Alena Pavlenkovo, a participant in the shift, 15 years old.
For reference: The Russian pilot project «University Shifts» is a unified educational program for children aged 12-17 from the DPR and LPR. Until September of this year, more than 40 Russian universities, including the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov, organize five profile shifts for 11 thousand young residents of the people’s republics of Donbass. Methodological and informational assistance to the organizing universities will be provided by the operational headquarters, created on the basis of the Russian State University named after A.N. Kosygin.
