KBSU continues to improve its positions in the authoritative Webometrics Ranking of World Universities
The results of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities for the first half of 2021 have been published (the rating is published twice a year).
KBSU confirmed its position in the Top 100 universities of the Russian Federation and, according to the version of 2021 (July), occupies 84th place (in the January ranking, the university took 95th place). This is still the best result among the classical universities of the North Caucasus Federal District.
In total, the ranking includes 1058 Russian universities. Compared to the previous edition, KBSU has seen a significant increase in 293 positions in terms of «Openness» — the citation of university researchers.
The Webometrics ranking is not only a ranking of university websites, but also a ranking of the universities themselves, using both webometric and bibliometric indicators to evaluate them.

For reference:
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has been published since 2004. It assesses various dimensions of the online presence of universities. The results are published twice a year: in January and in July. Every year the number of universities studied is growing: five years ago there were about 24,000 of them, and this year the compilers of the rating have already assessed more than 31,000 universities in the world.
In the latest version of the ranking, Webometrics evaluates universities according to three main criteria: Visibility — the number of pages and files, external links leading to the organization’s website; «Openness» (Transparency / Openness) — the number of citations of the top 210 university researchers (excluding the top 20); «Scientific achievements» (Excellence / Scholar) — the number of scientific publications by university representatives among the 10% most cited in each of the 27 disciplines taken into account.
The ranking is published by the Cybermetrics Lab research group, which is part of the National Research Council (CSIC) and is based in Madrid. The Webometrics project aims to help universities publish scientific achievements and present them to a wide audience. The ranking is considered one of the most authoritative on the web. — ratings of world educational institutions.
