KBSU congratulates Russian Olympians

The staff of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov congratulates the athletes, natives of our republic, who took part in the Tokyo Olympics on the success.
High jumper Maria Lasitskene won Olympic gold at the XXXII Summer Olympics, for the first time Mikhail Akimenko, who participated in such a high-level competition, took sixth place in the same sport.
Maria officially represents the Moscow region at the competitions, Mikhail — the city of Moscow. Both come from the Prokhladny sports school of the Olympic reserve in track and field (the only track and field school in the North Caucasus).
In honor of the Olympians from the KBR on the evening of August 8, on the Concorde Square in Nalchik, a concert of republican stage artists was organized, which ended with a festive fireworks. The Olympians were also honored in the city of Prokhladny.
Alley of Olympic Glory of Kabardino-Balkaria
In 2016, when Kabardino-Balkaria celebrated the 95th anniversary of the republic’s statehood, one of the culminating events of the celebration was the opening of the Alley of Olympic Glory, which is located next to the universal sports complex on Lenin Avenue in the center of Nalchik. It is adorned with Olympic rings decorated with flowers. The name and date of the bookmark are carved in gold on the white marble — September 1, 2016.
The hero of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, judoka Beslan Mudranov, who won the first «gold» for Russia, took part in the opening of the slab with the inscription «Alley of Olympic Glory of Kabardino-Balkaria». The ceremony was also attended by the chairman of the KBR parliamentary committee for sports and tourism, Murat Kardanov, who became the champion in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2000 Olympics, Khadzhimurat Akkaev, Aslanbek Khushtov and even cyclist Boris Shukhov, who won the Olympics in Munich in 1972.
In total, 10 blue spruces were planted — according to the number of Olympians, whose homeland is Kabardino-Balkaria. Near each tree there is a plaque with the name and sporting title of the Olympian who planted it.
Instead of the champion of the Moscow Olympics-80 in equestrian sports, Sergei Rogozhin, who died early, his trainer planted a tree.
Nalchik is looking forward to Maria Lasitskene, her tree is already ready for planting.

At the XXX Olympic Games in London in 2012, a 23-year-old student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after V.I. HM. Berbekova, judoka Arsen Galstyan. In the final, he defeated the reigning world champion Japanese Hiroaki Hiraoku in just forty seconds.
In 2016, at the XXXI Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, students of KBSU judokas Beslan Mudranov and Natalya Kuzyutina performed. Honored Master of Sports Beslan Mudranov won a gold medal, and an international master of sports Natalya Kuzyutina won a bronze medal.
Success of athletes from the North Caucasian republics at the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo
Among the successful Olympians there are representatives of other republics of the North Caucasus. Judoka from North Ossetia Madina Taymazova became the bronze medalist of games in the weight category up to 70 kg.
Judoka from Chechnya Tamerlan Bashaev took third place in the weight category over 100 kg and took bronze. Boxer Imam Khatayev from Chechnya received bronze in the weight category up to 81 kg.
In the final bout of the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 97 kg, a native of Ingushetia Musa Yevloyev defeated the Armenian wrestler Artur Aleksanyan.
Zenfira Magomedalieva, representing Dagestan, won a bronze medal in boxing up to 75 kg.
The Dagestani freestyle wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulayev in the up to 97 kg weight category beat the American wrestler Kyle Snyder in the final and received gold. In the same form, but in weight up to 65 kg, another representative of Dagestan, Gadzhimurad Rashidov, won the bronze.
MARIA ALEXANDROVNA LASITSKENE (KUCHINA) (January 14, 1993)
One of the most prominent athletes of our time, Maria Lasitskene trained in Prokhladny and continues to train now under the guidance of Gennady Gabrilyan, who created a unique methodology that helps his student win in almost every tournament in which she takes part. Until the summer season of 2017, Maria performed under her maiden name — Kuchina.
Maria — three-time world champion (2015, 2017, 2019), two-time world champion indoors (2014, 2018), European champion (2018), two-time European champion indoors (2015, 2019), three-time winner of the European Team Championship (2013, 2014) , 2015), two-time winner of the IAAF Continental Cup (2014, 2018), four-time champion of Russia (2014, 2017, 2018, 2019), five-time champion of Russia indoors (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019), champion of the Summer Youth Olympic Games 2010.
The first and only in history (both men and women) three-time world champion in high jump.
The only one in the history of Russian athletics and world high jumping (both among men

and among women) four-time winner of the overall standings of the «Diamond League» (2014, 2017, 2018, 2019). With a score of 2.06 m, Lasitskene holds the record for the Diamond League.
Captain of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Maria Lasitskene represents Kabardino-Balkaria and the Moscow Region, speaking for CSKA. She was a confidant of Vladimir Putin in the 2018 presidential elections in Russia.
MIKHAIL SERGEEVICH AKIMENKO (December 6, 1995)
He started his sports career in the town of Prokhladny, later moved to Moscow and began to play for the sports school for children and youth of the Olympic reserve «Youth of Moscow».
In 2013, Akimenko became the bronze medalist of the European Championship among juniors. The next year he won the World Junior Championship with a score of 2.24 meters. By order of March 6, 2014, he was awarded the title of «Master of Sports of Russia».
In 2019, Mikhail Akimenko won the Russian Indoor Championship with a personal best of 2.30 m. In June, at the Moscow Region Cup tournament in Zhukovsky, he took a height of 2.31 meters on the first try.
At the World Championships in the capital of Qatar, Doha, Russian athlete Mikhail Akimenko won the silver medal. Demonstrated the result — 2.35 meters.
The honored trainer of the USSR and the Russian Federation Yevgeny Petrovich Zagorulko, who passed away in April 2021, made a great contribution to the athlete’s success.
