KBSU Celebrated Balkar Revival Day
In anticipation of the holiday, a celebration dedicated to Balkar Revival Day was held at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. A concert program brought together students, faculty, distinguished guests, and representatives of the republic’s creative intelligentsia.
Kabardino-Balkarian State University Acting Rector and Vice Rector for General Affairs Murat Gukepshokov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. In his address, he recalled the significance of this date for the entire republic and touched on the topic of historical memory and the responsibility of the younger generation.
Dear friends and colleagues, on behalf of our university’s leadership and our entire staff of thousands, allow me to congratulate us all on this wonderful day—Balkar Revival Day,” said Murat Gukepshokov. “The pain of losing our homeland is familiar to me and my family.” I remember the stories of our elders about losses, but I also remember the stories of the joy of return. I appeal to you, to our children and grandchildren: Learn, create, and carry forward the work of your ancestors. This includes science, education, and culture. In this way, you can glorify yourselves and your people.
An important part of the event was a speech by representatives of the A.A. Tsipinov Center for Adyghe Culture and the Scientific and Educational Center for Russian Language and Culture at KBSU, who congratulated the Balkar people and emphasized the unity of the university’s multinational community.
Professor Magomed Mustafayev, Director of the Institute of Maxillofacial Surgery at KBSU, addressed the students with a farewell speech.
Today we celebrate Revival Day. But I wish that no nation ever experiences what would force it to revive. The future of our republic is in your hands—in the hands of those who graduate from this university. «Your job now is to study diligently and become experts for the benefit of yourself, your family, your people, and this great country,» said Magomed Mustafayev.
During the event, Magomed Mustafayev was awarded the Kaisyn Kuliev Medal on behalf of the Russian Lermontov Committee. The evening’s honored guests—Eldar Chechenov, Deputy Chairman of the State Foundation «Defenders of the Fatherland,» a participant in the special military operation, and Eldar Zhansuyev, Chairman of the Nalchik branch of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional organization «Russian Union of Veterans of Afghanistan and Special Military Operations»—also received letters of gratitude.
The festive concert program brought together artists of various nationalities. Performing on stage were Zhambulat Zhuboev, soloist of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Musical Theater; Azamat Tsavkilov, Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Karina Salagatti from North Ossetia-Alania; Aslan Biev, Marat Zankishiyev, Salim Taukenov, Alena Chabdarova, Ekaterina Khochueva; soloists of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University Song Theater «Amix»; and the exemplary dance ensemble «Nasyp.» The concert’s youngest performer, six-year-old Timur Olmezov, received the longest standing ovation with his song «Land of the Fathers.»
The finale was the performance of Khalimat Altuyeva, winner of the Miss Russia 2020 Grand Prix, who sang «Peace and Joy to You, O Living Ones!», a song based on the poetry of Kaisyn Kuliev.
