Athletes from the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov won the Open Archery Championship of the Chechen Republic, which was held in Gudermes at the Russian University of Special Forces named after V.V. Putin. The competition brought together 50 participants of various age categories from the Chechen Republic, Dagestan, Ingushetia, and Kabardino-Balkaria.
In the Classic Bow discipline, Yana Kulyushina, a third-year student in the Physical Education and Sports program, took first place. Diligent training helped her reach the top step of the podium. To improve the consistency of her shots, the archer increased the number of shots per training session to 200-250. The number of training sessions also doubled.
«Archery is a challenge that teaches patience and self-control, and these are the qualities I’m cultivating,» the athlete emphasized.
Yana says strict discipline helps her cope with pre-competition jitters. And she recuperates after a tough workout with delicious food and swimming.
«For me, this victory is an important confirmation of the consistency I’ve developed in training,» she asserts.
Yana named Brazilian archer Marcus D’Almeida as her athletic idol, and in life, she considers her parents and family her greatest supporters, who always support her and offer sound advice.
Yana’s mother, Natalia Kulyushina, a teacher at the KBSU Pedagogical College, is also a renowned athlete. She won the compound bow in Gudermes. Her experience and professionalism have become an inspiration not only for her daughter but also for many young athletes striving for excellence in this sport.
The Kulyushins’ plans include preparing to participate in the All-Russian «Hopes of Russia» competition in Velikiye Luki, as well as the Russian Indoor Archery Championships in Oryol.
The KBSU team congratulates Natalia and Yana Kulyushins on their victory and wishes them continued success.
