«The relevance of the fight against infectious diseases over the past two years has not been doubted by anyone in connection with the pandemic of a new coronavirus infection, which forced the entire healthcare system to mobilize, from the heads of medical organizations to junior medical staff. The system survived, but, unfortunately, at the cost of the lives of many of our citizens, including colleagues in white coats. Today it is very important to understand, especially in the light of the geopolitical events that are taking place around our country, that there is a danger of the emergence of new epidemics associated with the possibility of using bacteriological weapons. If such a provocation occurs, infectious disease specialists will again be at the forefront of the fight against this problem. I wish you fruitful work, gaining new knowledge so that you can use it for the benefit of our citizens».

Acting first vice-rector of KBSU — vice-rector for academic affairs Vadim Lesev, noting that for over 60 years the university has been training personnel for medical institutions that work not only in our republic, but throughout the world.

The head of the Department of the federal service for supervision of consumer rights protection and human welfare in KBR, the chief state sanitary doctor of the KBR Zhiraslan Pagov thanked the doctors for their invaluable contribution to the fight against both covid and other infectious diseases. Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, said about the value of the topic, which was put at the forefront of the forum:

«The problem of infectious diseases remains relevant, we all understand this very well. In addition to COVID-19, other infections have not disappeared either, which means that there is a huge layer of work that we still have to do. It is nice to see young professionals and students in the hall, because such conferences remain an important educational platform, helping to master the course that students are studying, gain new knowledge and learn from older colleagues».

In continuation of what Vladimir Chulanov said, the chief freelance specialist in infectious diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Southern Federal District Vladimir Gorodin confirmed:

«Our meetings are very useful, because infectious diseases have always been very relevant in the South of Russia due to natural foci of infections and migration flows. So we have a lot of developments in this area and have something to share with colleagues from other regions. Conferences of this level help to improve our professional level and readiness to work in a possible emergency epidemiological situation».
