Important message about foreign students in KBSU
Inaccurate data about the number of foreign students at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov is being spread on social networks. In this regard, we provide official information based on current data and the legislation of the Russian Federation.
To date, KBSU has 2,448 foreign students from more than 50 countries. With a total number of about 19,500 people, the share of foreign students is 12.57%. Such figures reflect Russian trends in the internationalization of higher education and correspond to the implementation of strategic objectives outlined at the state level.
The development of international cooperation in the field of education is one of the priority areas of Russian state policy. Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task of increasing the number of foreign students in Russian universities to 500,000 people by 2030. This goal is enshrined in the decree «On the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and for the perspective up to 2036.»
To achieve this goal, a set of measures is being implemented to increase the competitiveness of Russian higher education, improve educational programs and create comfortable conditions for foreign students.
The University not only contributes to the achievement of national goals, but also strictly complies with legislative requirements that ensure order in the field of migration. The activities of KBSU in working with foreign students are regulated by Federal Law No. 115-FZ of July 25, 2002. In particular, the University is obliged to promptly respond to violations of the student stay regime. If a fact of unauthorized departure of a foreigner from the place of registration is detected, the University sends notifications to the authorized state authorities within 3 working days.
It is important to emphasize that foreign citizens do not participate in the general competition for budget places. They are allocated separate places within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation, financed by the federal budget.
Contract places for admission to study are allocated for citizens of the Russian Federation and separately for foreign citizens. For the latter, a special list of entrance examinations and their own competitive selection are provided.
The number of places allocated for foreign applicants, as well as the number of applicants, do not affect the procedure for enrolling Russian citizens. Competitions are held independently of each other.
