Future Paralympic athletes study at KBSU
How to develop a conscious attitude to physical education and sports among students with physical disabilities was discussed on December 7, 2022 at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov at the inclusive seminar «Everyone is equal in sports.» The initiators of the meeting — employees of the Department of Inclusive Education of the Department of Educational Policy of the KBSU — invited to discuss both students, including those with disabilities, their parents, and long-term partners of the university in the formation of an accessible environment and inclusive forms in education.
The head of the department, Lyudmila Nastuyeva, introduced the experts of the meeting: Zarema Nakhusheva, assistant to the rector, program coordinator of the Resource Educational and Methodological Center for the Education of the Disabled and Persons with Disabilities of the NKFU from KBSU, director of the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Education and Sports Education Olga Mikhailenko, instructor-methodologist of the GKU KBR «Sports-Adaptive School», the winner of the republican stage of the All-Russian competition «The Best Worker of a Sports School» of the All-Russian Public Organization «All-Russian Association of Representatives of Sports Schools» in 2018 in the nomination «senior instructor-methodologist, instructor-methodist, methodologist» Angela Adygeunova, coach Detsko — youth sports adaptive school in powerlifting, world champion in the WRPF alternative federation in bench press, member of the Russian national team in parapowerlifting Sultan Kugotov, coach of the youth sports adaptive school in athletics, candidate master of sports, champion she is the Southern Federal District in athletics Kantemir Karamurzova.

This is the first step in understanding ourselves,” — Zarema Nakhusheva greeted the meeting participants.
The director of the IPP and FSO KBSU Olga Mikhailenko spoke about the training of teaching staff at the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Culture and Sports Education of the KBSU for the system of inclusive education in educational institutions of the KBR, noting that the university pays great attention to creating a favorable accessible educational environment for people with disabilities and disability. KBSU is constantly improving its work on inclusive education programs. Taking into account the needs of the republic in personnel for working with people with disabilities and persons with disabilities, a master’s program was opened at our institute in the direction of training «Psychological and pedagogical education», the profile «Psychological and pedagogical support of inclusive education». A volunteer movement is actively working at the institute; in 2017, it was within the walls of the IPP and the FSO that “Inclusive Volunteering” arose. Many of our students are involved in social projects.
For example, Viktor Kirpa, a master’s student at the Institute, is implementing the project “Together in Life”, and the project “I Will Help”, a postgraduate student of the IPP and FSO Zara Kochesokova, aimed at providing psychological and pedagogical assistance to families raising children with disabilities and disabilities, has become popular not only in our republic , but also in the country as a whole,” said Olga Mikhailenko. Lyudmila Nastueva acquainted students with the organization of an accessible environment at KBSU, emphasizing that it fully complies with legal documents. Speaking about the implementation of the discipline «Physical Culture and Sports», the head of the department of inclusive education explained that students from among the disabled and people with disabilities can and should go in for physical education at the university, there are two types of medical groups for them: special «A» ( health) and special «B» (rehabilitation). The recruitment of medical groups is carried out on the basis of a conclusion on the state of health, an assessment of the functional capabilities of the body and the level of physical fitness of the student.
Anzhela Adygeunova, an instructor-methodologist, spoke about the work of the Sports-Adaptive School in Nartkala: About 50 children with various nosologies study at our school: autistic, hearing-impaired, with lesions of the musculoskeletal system, with cerebral palsy, with Down syndrome and others. In addition to sports activities, we organize holidays for them, attract sponsors, try to do everything so that our “special” children play and have fun like everyone else. Our pupils regularly take part in the athletics race dedicated to Children’s Day. Come visit us and invite us to your events, we will be happy to participate. The track and field coach of the Children and Youth Sports-Adaptive School shared his experience of working with children with cerebral palsy of Nalchik Kantemir Karamurzov:
«Working with these children is a great pleasure. They try, every day, drop by drop, overcoming themselves. We are all friends. The coach’s method is to convince the guys that they should not withdraw into themselves if something is wrong with their health and there are any physical limitations. On the contrary, you need to play sports».
«We have good equipment. The workouts are free. So come visit us. In our school, everyone can find not only an occupation to their liking, but also a true friend», — Kantemir Karamurzov addressed the participants of the meeting — his potential pupils.
Powerlifting coach Sultan Kugotov, himself with disabilities since childhood, proved by his personal example that playing sports tempers character, develops willpower, and opens up new opportunities for a person.
«I do not like the words: people with disabilities. If we unite, we will stop calling them that. We can say that these are people with increased needs. They may need a little more attention than others,” — said Sultan Kugotov.
Addressing the students, the coach urged them to go in for sports, be active, always on the move, like a clean river. At the end of the meeting, Lyudmila Nastuyeva thanked the guests for developing the motivation of students with disabilities and disabilities for physical education and sports.
«I hope that you will take this first step in overcoming yourself, and it doesn’t matter what abilities you have at the moment, the main thing is desire», — summed up the head of the department of inclusive education of the UOP KBSU, addressing her message to students.
