Future doctors honed their professional technique at the intra-university Olympiad

In May 2023, the Department of Normal and Pathological Anatomy of the Medical Faculty of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov initiated a student Olympiad in four disciplines: anatomy, histology, pathological anatomy, and operative surgery. The participants of the Olympiad were students of the 1st and 3rd, 4th courses of the specialties «Medicine» and «Pediatrics».

Despite the complexity and originality of tasks in anatomy (it was necessary to solve a number of situational tasks, puzzles, complete tasks on a virtual anatomical table with 3D images of the human body), first-year students of the specialties «Pediatrics» and «General Medicine» demonstrated deep and structured knowledge of the subject , resourcefulness and ingenuity. The winners received a trophy and certificates. The 1st place was taken by the Spifly team, students of the specialty «Pediatrics»: Rahman Tsehaev, Deniz Hasaeva, Aminat Bozieva, Artem Mishensky.

Olympiad in histology was held on the theme «Tissues — the basis of life.» First-year students of the specialties «Medicine» and «Pediatrics» were offered tasks for mastering microscopic equipment (decoding a histological specimen), finding a solution to situational problems and puzzles, and a competition of captains. According to the results of the Olympiad, the participants were awarded certificates, and the winners were awarded diplomas. The 1st place was taken by the team of T-killers: Bella Otarova (General Medicine), Ariela Kubadieva (Pediatrics), Deniz Kushkhabieva (General Medicine), Milana Shalova (General Medicine).

The 3rd year students of the specialty «Medicine» took part in the Olympiad in pathological anatomy «Excellence in Morphology». The winners received a trophy and certificates. The 1st place was taken by the team, which included Alida Abazova, Murat Adamokov, Dana Oshkhunova, Arianna Pkhitikova, Zhanna Khapova, Shahsha Etezova. The best captain is Akhmed Kunizhev. Winners in the individual competition — Salima Koichueva, Shahsha Etezova, Batyrbek Shogenov. As part of the Olympiad in Operative Surgery, competitions were held in the surgical technique of imposing intestinal anastomoses among 4th year students of the specialty «General Medicine», undergoing additional training in the circle of surgery, studying in English, as well as 3rd year students of the specialty «Pediatrics».

Alina Tlupova and Milana Kesheva, third-year students of the specialty «Pediatrics», won the victory, they were awarded cups and medals, and diplomas were awarded to the participants of the Olympiad.
