From Kyazim to Kaisyn: a new tourist route of the «Mountain People» of KBSU
The team of the Youth Club of the Russian Geographical Society «Mountain People», created at the Institute of Management, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, marked out a new tourist ethnographic route. The two-day, 21 km long route will run from the ancient village of Shyky in the Chereksky district of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic to the village of El-Tyubyu in the Chegemsky district, connecting historical places associated with the names of Balkar classics.
The participants of the hike will be able to visit the home of Kyazim Mechiev, the founder of Balkar poetry and literary language, enjoy the views of the picturesque Kyshlyk pass and visit the house where Kaisyn Kuliev, one of the most famous Balkar poets, was born.
This route is a journey through the history and culture of Balkaria. The villages of Shyky and El-Tyubyu are the birthplace of Kyazim Mechiev and Kaisyn Kuliev. Their houses have become symbols of our culture. We hope that by walking this route, people will be able to feel the power of nature, which became a source of inspiration for the great Balkar authors,
— shared Kazbek Taukenov, a member of the club and a student of the Institute of Music and History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund in cooperation with the Youth Club of the Russian Geographical Society “Mountain People”. The route will become not only a new tourist destination, but also a bridge between generations, allowing everyone to feel the spirit and greatness of the Balkar culture.
