For the first time in history of KBSU a girl became the chairman of the student council
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov has elected a new chairman of the student council. For the first time in the history of the student council of KBSU, a girl, a student of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance, Maryana Varitlova, a former deputy chairman of the student council of the university, will be in charge of student self-government affairs.
To apply for election, the participant had to be a student, graduate student or employee of KBSU from 18 to 35 years old with experience in student government. 6 candidates fought for the post of chairman of the student council:
Zurab Hutov — acting chairman of the student council of KBSU
Amina Makanaeva — Deputy Chairman of the student sports and patriotic club «Lime»
Maryana Varitlova — Deputy Chairman of the Student Council of KBSU
Anzor Tkhagalegov — Chairman of the Papaha Travel Tourist Club and the Maxwell Science Club
Anastasia Logvina — Employee of the student council of KBSU
Murat Teberdiev is an employee of the student council of KBSU.
Maryana Varitlova speaks about her victory:
I worked in the student council for more than a year. I hope that the students chose me because they expressed their trust in me to represent and protect their rights and interests. The Student Council of KBSU is already 31 years old. My plans are to restore the former power of the Student Council, to replenish the resource of activists, to interest the guys, to help them understand student life, what platforms the university offers to develop their potential. Also, one of the most topical topics is educational and moral. Students of the current generation have their own characteristics, starting from them, I want to choose a new format of work that would be relevant. I would like to work with foreign students, help them integrate into the society of local children, acquaint them with our nature, traditions and customs, as well as get to know their traditions, their culture — to help them go through the most comfortable and fully master the educational process at KBSU. The fact that I am the first girl in the position of chairman of the student council of KBSU shows some progress. Most likely 10 years ago it was almost impossible to imagine a girl in this position. Times, views, thinking are changing, gender is receding into the background, and they are chosen primarily by the qualities of a candidate.
