First meeting with KBSU’s freshmen in 2022

According to the results of the admission campaign — 2022 to the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov was attended by over 5 thousand first-year students at the levels of higher education and secondary vocational education. From 29 to 31 August, newcomers were warmly welcomed by the heads and teachers of the educational departments of the university. They warmly congratulated the children on the beginning of the new academic year, now in the status of students, and spoke about the peculiarities of studying at the university and its member colleges. Newly minted students received information about the types of scholarships, opportunities for self-realization both in the scientific and public spheres. Members of the KBSU student activists reported on various areas of extracurricular activities. They noted that there are 19 student interest clubs in KBSU, work is underway to attract young people to participate in grant competitions, etc. To help and adapt freshmen, a tutoring system has been introduced in each structural unit of the university.

The system includes lectures, seminars, meetings with students (both in subject groups and individually) by representatives of the student government, during which they talk about the university and student life in general. More than 150 tutors help students navigate all university resources, including opportunities to participate in extracurricular and scientific events, student associations, sports clubs, internships with employers, etc. Freshmen from other cities were explained the rules of living in a hostel. The children who are actively involved in sports and leading a healthy lifestyle were interested to learn about the KBSU sports club, where there are 7 sports sections with qualified coaches. Sections can be visited absolutely free of charge. Creative children also have something to do at their leisure. At the Center for General Developmental Programs of KBSU, under the guidance of professional leaders, there are the Amiks Song Theater, the Zanaves Student Theater, the Kafa Folk Ensemble, the Callisto Dance Theater.

Freshmen who are not indifferent, with an active life position, have a direct road to the KBSU Volunteer Center, where they work more than 2,000 volunteers in 14 areas: scientific volunteering, medical volunteers, social volunteering, volunteering in the cultural and creative sphere, sports volunteering, volunteer translators, Victory volunteers, environmental volunteering, inclusive volunteering, event volunteering, educational volunteering, media volunteering, volunteering in the field of emergency prevention, IT volunteering. During the meetings, freshmen got acquainted with their classmates and curators, many of them have already created chats in social networks for communication. At the end of the meetings, excursions around the university buildings were held for everyone.
